Jacob laughed and shook his head as he ran past Connie's house one morning.
She stood there in the doorway drinking her cup of coffee as she had her lawn mowed by a gardner, although he wasn't surprised, she wasn't always as independent as she made out.The next morning he was talking with Cal just outside the ED when she shouted them both over, so quickly they complied.
"Dr Knight, Staff Nurse Masters, carry these to my office if you wouldn't mind" she said then handed them a pile of folders each and sauntered inside.
Jacob shook his has as they both followed her with her work and put them down on her desk once they reached her office.
Cal left immediately but Jacob stood there hovering.
"Can I help you with something?" Connie asked him.
"I'm suprised it's not you asking me for help. You seem to get man to do everything for you" Jacob replied.
"Excuse me?" she said.
"You're gardening, carrying paperwork, you had a porter carry your plant in last week, and had me re park your car!" he told her.
"Count yourself lucky I trust you to drive my car, now get to work Staff Nurse Masters" Connie replied. She went to cubicals an hour or so later and shouted Jacob in, "glue the wound then order a CT scan" she said.
"Can't do it yourself?" Jacob asked.
"I have another patient to attend to. Just do it please" she snapped before walking out.
At the end of the shift Jacob came to her office, "need a man to help you carry anything?" he asked.
"No. I do not need a man to do anything. Just because I choose not to do it myself sometimes doesn't mean I am incapable" Connie told him.
"Whatever you say, sweetcheeks" Jacob smirked before leaving her office.
Connie followed ten minutes later, walking out and getting into her car.She looked over as she pulled out of her spot and noticed Jacob sat on the bonnet of his car.
Connie smirked and put down her window as she pulled up in the empty parking space next to him, "car trouble muscles? Need a hand?" she asked.
Jacob, assuming she meant a lift home, nodded and climbed off the bonnet but was confused when Connie got out of the car.
"Pop it open" she said.
Jacob chuckled a little, "you're not a mechanic" he told her.
"Open it" Connie said again.
Jacob opened it, thinking he could prove her wrong, but stood watching as she tweaked some things around.
"Try it now" she told him.
Connie moved out of the way as Jacob got in the car and started the engine, a look genuine surprise coming to his face as the car revved to life.Connie went round to the drivers side and lent in the opened window, "a lot you don't know about me muscles" she smirked.
"Why do you do it? Put on this front that you need a man to do everything or that you're too high and mighty to do certain things but you can fix my car like that?" Jacob asked.
"I enjoy it, I don't have the time to mow my lawn and even if I did I'd probably ruin it, sometimes I'd just rather have the easy life. I can afford it" she explained.
"Ah, so that's why you wouldn't even glue a wound today?" He asked.
"No, I was genuinely needed in resus and I know you're more than experienced enough to take care of it. Jacob I don't want you to think I was trying to undermine you at all, because I wasn't" Connie said, sounding and feeling a little guilty."I don't think that, hey I like the bossy power woman act. It's sexy" he smirked.
Connie laughed a little, "you're an idiot you know that?" she told him.
"I know" he grinned.
She smiled and brushed her hand up against his cheek, "but I wouldn't have you any other way" she said before softly pressing her lips against his.
"Good night staff nurse masters" she whispered.
"Good night Mrs Beauchamp" Jacob replied as he recovered from his shock.
She smiled and walked back towards her car but didn't get in and looked back at him.
Jacob got out and moved closer to her, "how about you let me thank you for fixing my car?" he asked, "dinner then drinks?" he added.
"I'd like that Jacob, thank you" Connie replied before they both got back into his car and drove away.Idea from carolinehc007
