Past Friends

Part 29: Space

Back downstairs all of the Avengers (except for Natasha, Dr.Strange, Vision, and Loki) met to discuss what happened earlier regarding you. They fill in the other Avengers who weren't present and they're all shocked. Sam, Wanda, and Pietro don't believe it, you couldn't be the enemy, they argue that it wasn't possible. Thor agrees with them and continues proclaiming your innocents. They then argued about what to do while they wait for Natasha to confirm if you were telling the truth or not.

After a while Wanda offers to read your mind to find out the truth, she was tired of waiting. Tony and Bruce are on board but Steve and to their surprise Bucky was not. Even though Bucky desperately wanted to know the truth after Hydra messed with his head, possible enemy or not mind reading was off the table. The arguing continued until Natasha arrived about 20 minutes later. She then confirmed that you indeed wrote the Report. There was no evidence of you being a traitor and the only thing left to decide was how they were going to make it up to you.

Meanwhile, in your room, a few hours have passed and you were starting to wake up. Vision was still there, he had been informed of your innocence but remained with you to monitor your condition and take care of you if necessary. You sat up unsure of what was going on, but as soon as Vision made his presence known you remembered what happened. You start to freak out as today's events replay in your mind, tears begin to fill your eyes as you think about how quickly they turned on you. You thought they really cared about you, but now you weren't so sure. Vision sees you're in distress and offers you his assistants but you tell him you don't need any help nor did you want his help. You wanted him to go away and even though you were very upset you politely asked him to leave your room. Before Vision leaves he insists you take some medicine, he grabs the bottle of liquid cold & flu medication off your side table and begrudgingly you take some of it.

You lay back down and close your eyes, planning on going back to sleep when you hear people chatting. You shoot back up realizing they're getting closer and most likely coming to see you now that you were awake. You panic not knowing whether or not they still believe you were a traitor. You get out of bed and run to hide in the closet not wanting to see anyone right now. There's a knock at your door but you don't answer, then a second knock and you hear Natasha call your name but you still don't answer. You huddle in the back of your mostly empty closet holding your knees close to you. The door to your room opens and you hear several people enter looking for you, worried when they don't find you right away. You try to stay quiet but you start to cough loudly, giving away your location. They realize you're in the closet but instead of just opening the door they knock on it. You tell them quite loudly "go away, I'm not coming out" before you start coughing again. Through the door they calmly asked you to come out and talk to them, they had something to say to you but they wanted to do it face to face. You keep quiet unsure of what to say, your mind was clouded from being sick. You then hear Thor asking you to come out of the closet so you ask him "do they still think I'm a bad guy?". All of their hearts tightened at your question, you had every right to be upset and they understood that but it still hurt to hear. Thor tells you no but before you even try to stand up your closet door begins to open. Thor enters the closet seeing you all sick and upset on the floor finding himself getting mad and protective all over again. He carefully helps you onto your feet and leads you gently by the hand out to the others. You see Natasha, Tony, Steve and Bucky standing there waiting for you. They tell you that they're sorry for everything that happened earlier and that they'll do anything to make it up to you. Natasha tries to reach out to hug you but you flinch and move closer to Thor. He wraps his arms protectively around you giving the others a dirty look. He then picks you up and carries you out of your room to everyone's protest, as he tells you that you're hanging out with him right now.

You didn't care where Thor was taking you because right now you needed time to be away from the others, right now you needed some space. You had the feeling that if you didn't want to see anyone Thor would make it happen and protect you. You smile thinking how lucky you were to have a big brother like this. "Big brother?" You think, questioning why you thought that, but it felt... right.

Your hold on him gets a little tighter as you fight yourself to stay awake. Thor notices and tells you "it's alright my lady if you're tired you can just sleep, I will be here when you wake up. Have no fear the Mighty Thor will protect you!!" Thor let out a small chuckle. Your smile grows a little wider as you close your eyes, laying your head against Thor as you slowly fall asleep. But before you completely drift off to sleep you thank him. Thor is caught completely off guard by this, considering what you actually said was "thanks bro". Thor pauses for a moment to look at you seeing that you are passed out now and smiles whispering to you "anything for my little sister". He gives you a kiss on the top of your head then continues walking, taking you somewhere for you to rest.
