Part 9: Feeling A Little Better

The medicine Loki gave you kept you asleep for quite a while, in fact, you were out all night and the following day. You woke up still feeling no pain, well no pain from your injury, the slight pain from your stomach growling was a different story. You got up carefully, taking your time putting on your housecoat; it was sky blue in colour, you got it secondhand and altered to fit, you even added a fuzzy furry lining, you even lined the hood. Although you couldn't feel it, you wanted to be careful so you would be extra sore like yesterday.

Wait... you look at your phone and you realize you've been asleep for a day and a half. Getting over the initial shock you slowly walk down the hall to the stairs to go down into the kitchen to get something to eat. You see Tony, Nat, Steve, and Wanda from the top of the stairs and you call out good morning to them. They watch as you slowly make your way down the stairs taking extra care not to push yourself and they notice. "What's wrong kiddo? Are you feeling super sore still?" Steve asks. "No" you reply "just taking it slow as to not 'over exert' myself like the doctor said". They're all silent for a minute before Tony asks "okay who are you and what have you done with Y/N?". "Haha very funny Tony, it's just... after the scolding I got from Loki yesterday, well the day before yesterday... I feel like I owe it to him, to at least try to do better" you smile to yourself, they all looked at each other while you go to the fridge and pull out some fruit. "Wait Loki gave you a hard time for being out of bed?" Nat asked, you nod your head as you continue to eat your fruit. "Oh...ooooh" Wanda's tone changed, "I didn't think you'd be into that sort of thing Y/N," she says jokingly. "Into what?" you ask genuinely confused. Wanda wiggles her eyebrows at you, it takes a few seconds before... "What?!? No! No way! It's not like that" you turn around so they wouldn't see how embarrassed you looked at the implication. "Well, that's what we're going to think unless you say otherwise" Wanda responds in a sing-song voice. A few minutes go by before you take a deep breath, turn back to them and say, "like I said it's not like that... I enjoyed it I guess but not in the way your thinking" your voice trailed off for a moment. "It's just nice to have someone care enough about you to give you a hard time you know? Like getting yelled at when you come home at 3 am on a school night or when you fail a test and 'they' expected more from you, because 'they' know you can do better" you looked away crossing your arms, your eyes getting a little watery, "I never really had that, not to say that my grandparents didn't care just being as old as they were... they didn't have the energy to discipline me". You grab a glass of water and sit down at the table continuing, "he just made me feel like... I'm a part of something, like a family... it's how all of you make me feel actually, it's a nice feeling I'm just not used to people actually caring about me" you stop talking, too embarrassed to continue. The four Avengers look at you with an "aww" expression, Nat and Wanda come over and give you a hug. Steve also comes over and ruffles your hair giving you a big smile while Tony just turns away, folding his arms trying not to feel the feels. "We love you too kid" Natasha says, you look at each of them as they nod confirming Nat's statement. Just then Sam and Bucky come walking in, they see Nat and Wanda hugging you, Steve looking super happy, and Tony looking embarrassed, "did we miss something?" Sam asks. "Yeah what's with all the hugging?" Bucky follows up, "Oh, Y/N just told us that she loves us" Nat responds teasingly "I didn't say that" you whisper loudly still super embarrassed. "Well, you said we're like your family, that means you love us!" Wanda says also teasingly. You look down at your lap, your face is all red from the sudden and overwhelming physical affection. "Okay that's enough, I'm gonna go" you stand up breaking the hug, face still all red and embarrassed. "Where are you going? You're not going by yourself!" Bucky says as you start to walk away. "I'm doing this alone Bucky, I don't need help," you say still walking towards the stairs. "What happened to little miss I'll try harder to take care of myself?" Tony asks sarcastically. "She's still here but this is something I'm doing by myself" "Oh come on Doll!" Bucky says a little frustrated. You turn around walking straight up to Bucky and say "So you're going to help me?" Bucky nods as you continue "well I'm going to go take a shower. Still want to help?" You have your hands on your hips as Bucky's face goes red but before he or anyone else has a chance to reply you shout "No! It's not happening!" You turn back around and walk angrily up the stairs, practically stomping as you go. They watch as you turn the corner and then pop back out two seconds later with a smile, you were just pretending to be mad. You yell down "I love you guys!!" You give them a wink and blow an overly dramatic kiss at them and wander off down the hall, happy but still a little unsure of where this sudden boldness came from. You go back to your room, pick out some clean clothes and hop into the shower.
