HE IS A MERCIFUL (NOT MASOCHISTIC) CREATOR

One of many testimonies thereby we can recognize God is good, is that He hardwired/created our hearts to be hedonistic: Pursuing and desiring that which brings us the most pleasure (and satisfaction).

The Lord caused me to think on that truth: He could've hardwired/created our hearts to be masochistic: Pursuing that which brings us the most pain. God could've made man completely ignorant and cut off from the possibility of discovering joy and happiness. But since He is a good, good God, He creates every single one of us to be in pursuit of what brings us the most pleasure (hedonism).

Now, because creation has fallen (though it is slowly being redeemed and renewed by the power of the Gospel) our hedonistic hearts are a burden and a curse to us, apart from God and His transforming redemption. Apart from Him, we fall short of Pursuing that which brings us the most pleasure & satisfaction, which is Himself. Apart from His transforming our hearts into a born again purpose  we wander and grasp about blindly, in vanity, and hopelessness.

But since we bear this testimony and gift...in that we pursue what brings us the most pleasure rather than the most pain...we must, with the help of His Spirit having renewed our minds, turn our eyes to the Giver and Creator of that gift, praise Him for His goodness, and utilize in living out Christ-like hedonism: Pursuing finding pleasure and satisfaction in God.

"Oh, taste and see that the Lord  is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him! Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints! There is no want to those who fear Him.The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing.
Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Who is the man who desires life, And loves many days, that he may see good? Keep your tongue from evil, And your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it." ~Psalm 34:8-14

"The Lord has made everything beautiful in its time. Also He has put eternity in their hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from beginning to end.
I know that nothing is  better for them than to rejoice, and to do good in their lives, and also that every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor—it is the gift of God. I know that whatever God does, It shall be forever. Nothing can be added to it, And nothing taken from it. God does it, that men should fear before Him.
That which is has already been, And what is to be has already been; And God requires an account of what is past." ~Ecclesiastes 3:11-15

"There are many who say, “Who will show us any good?” Lord, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us. You have put gladness in my heart, More than in the season that their grain and wine increased. I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; For You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety." ~Psalm 4:6-8

"Here is what I have seen: It is good and fitting for one to eat and drink, and to enjoy the good of all his labor in which he toils under the sun all the days of his life which God gives him; for it is his heritage. As for every man to whom God has given riches and wealth, and given him power to eat of it, to receive his heritage and rejoice in his labor—this is the gift of God.For he will not dwell unduly on the days of his life, because God keeps him busy with the joy of his heart." ~Ecclesiastes 5:18-20

"Has a nation changed its gods, Which are  not gods? But My people have changed their Glory For what does not profit.
Be astonished, O heavens, at this, And be horribly afraid; Be very desolate,” says the Lord. “For My people have committed two evils: They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns—broken cisterns that can hold no water." ~Jeremiah 2:11-13

“I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who  will believe in Me through their word;that they all may be one, as  You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.And the  glory which You gave Me I have given them,  that they may be one just as We are one:I in them, and You in Me;  that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me." ~John 17:20-23
