Feelings are indeed real AND they are not to be 100% wholly trusted or be allowed to determine how we live.
I have often 'felt' I didn't need to give God praise, acknowledgement, and thanks and I have had to work hard to fight and reject the feeling. Those are the times (by His revealing grace) that I have realized the danger I'm in to pride, vain glory, and self deception. I have had to fight against that particular FEELING by opposing it with what I KNOW to be true.
