THE OUTLOOK OF PHYSICAL HEALING: "GOD WILL...BUT IF NOT, HE IS STILL..."
God mercifully taught me something this morning (and I'm sure He'll continue to faithfully remind me from it) :
Daniel's three friends did not have a fatalist, stoic outlook when confronted with the fiery furnace of the King of Babylon, for refusing to worship his golden idol. They declared with godly boldness & confidence: "Our God, whom we serve, WILL DELIVER US..." (Daniel 3:16-18)
How I relate this in contrast to my life is that when the topic of healing people in the Name of Jesus, I tend to intone, "Well, if it be God's will; because suffering may be His will for them."
That may be true, to some degree. God confronted Moses in the burning bush: “Who has made man’s mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the Lord?" (Exodus 4:11) The apostles asked Jesus: "..."Who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?” He answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him." ~John 9:2-3
So if it sometimes be God's will that suffering is appointed as a season for some (that His works should be revealed in them and He be glorified from it), what is the perspective God wants me to have when it comes to healing?
Like Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, we/I ought to cry with godly boldness against the power-threat of sickness: "God will deliver me! But if not...regardless, I will continue trusting in Him; though He should slay me!" (Job 13:15)
Declare the truth of God's deliverance with boldness to the works of the Enemy while also declaring this equal truth: "Even if the healing doesn't come...He is God and He is still good; I will not cease but continue to serve, love, and worship Him alone." We acknowledge boldly He will save while in harmony (and not in contradiction) boldly acknowledging His ways are higher than our ways, our prayers. (Isaiah 55:6-11)
God is our Deliverer...not our "maybe-He-will-deliver"...not "if-it's-His-pleasure-to-do-so"... no. HE IS OUR DELIVERER
"This is God, Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide, EVEN TO DEATH." ~Psalm 48:14
"Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, The God of our salvation! (Selah) Our God is the God of salvation; And to God the Lord BELONG ESCAPES FROM DEATH." ~Psalm 68:19-20
"For we do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, of our trouble which came to us in Asia: that we were burdened beyond measure, above strength, so that we despaired even of life. Yes, WE HAD THE SENTENCE OF DEATH in ourselves, that we should NOT TRUST IN OURSELVES but in God who raises the dead, WHO DELIVERED US from so great a death, and does deliver us; in whom we trust that HE WILL STILL DELIVER us." ~2 Corinthians 1:8-10
"But now, thus says the Lord, who created you, O Jacob, And He who formed you, O Israel: “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; YOU ARE MINE. When you pass through the waters, I WILL BE WITH YOU; And through the rivers, they shall not overflow you. When you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned, Nor shall the flame scorch you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, YOUR SAVIOR..." ~Isaiah 43:1-3
"The Lord knows the days of the upright, And their inheritance shall be forever. They shall not be ashamed in the EVIL TIME, And in the DAYS OF FAMINE they shall be satisfied." ~Psalm 37:18-19
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, And whose HOPE IS THE LORD. For that man shall be like a tree planted by the waters, Which spreads out its roots by the river, And will not fear WHEN HEAT COMES; But its leaf will be green, And will not be anxious in THE YEAR OF DROUGHT, Nor will cease from yielding fruit." ~Jeremiah 17:7-8
“What shall I say? He has both spoken to me, And the Lord Himself has done it. I shall walk carefully all my years In the bitterness of my soul. O Lord, by these things men live; And in all these things is the life of my spirit; So You will restore me and make me live.Indeed it was for MY OWN PEACE that I had GREAT BITTERNESS; But You have lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption, For You have cast all my sins behind Your back." ~Isaiah 38:15-17
"But to you who fear My name, The Sun of Righteousness shall arise; with healing in His wings..." ~Malachi 4:2
"And lest I, Paul, should be exalted above measure by the abundance of the revelations, a thorn in the flesh was given to me, a messenger of Satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure. Concerning this thing I pleaded with the Lord three times that it might depart from me.And He said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore most gladly I will rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in needs, in persecutions, in distresses, for Christ’s sake. For when I am weak, then I am strong." ~2 Corinthians 12:7-10
