PRAYERS THAT DO NOT GLORIFY HIM

Included in meditating on God and monitoring our hearts, is asking ourselves what is the motive behind the way we live and the way we pray.

Are we living and praying in such a way that sees God ALONE is glorified AND that we ALONE are humbled...or is it in such a way that sees we are never humbled and that men would glorify us?

It is easy to deceive ourselves in praying to God to keep us from sin if the underlying goal is to impress men of our righteousness, rather than to magnify God for His truth and grace.
We must ever learn and accept in peace that God being glorified and our being humbled is all that matters.

"Let all those who seek You rejoice and be glad in You; And let those who love Your salvation say continually, “Let God be magnified!” " ~Psalms 70:4

"If you are righteous, what do you give Him? Or what does He receive from your hand?" ~Job 35:7

"Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show by good conduct that his works are  done in the meekness of wisdom. But if you have bitter envy and self-seeking in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth. This wisdom does not descend from above, but is earthly, sensual, demonic. For where envy and self-seeking exist, confusion and every evil thing are there. But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy." ~James 3:13‭-‬17
