~~~ From SERVANTHOOD for the Master, to SONSHIP of the Father
From DUTY to the Father, to DESIRE for Abba ~~~It may be that for some of God's children, their upbringing must first begin in a sense of fear and duty; that they might know who is the parent.
Yet to perceive and remain as such, is to remain as babes and immature. Honor is not freely given until it is painfully learned under discipline. Yet, "afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it" (Hebrews 12:11) and one of those peaceable fruits is "love".
We were meant to mature into spiritual adults who obey/honor out of desire and love for their Heavenly Father. Like the first apostles, we may begin as servants, yet it is the Son of God's desire that we mature like Him and come to know our sonship in the Father as well.
"Now I say that the heir, as long as he is a child, does not differ at all from a slave, though he is master of all,but is under guardians and stewards until the time appointed by the father.Even so we, when we were children, were in bondage under the elements of the world.But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law,to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons.And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!"Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ." ~Galatians 4:1-7
"For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God,and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together." ~Romans 8:14-17
Then the prodigal said, "I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you,and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants." '"And he arose and came to his father. But when he was still a great way off, his father saw him and had compassion, and ran and fell on his neck and kissed him.And the son said to him, 'Father, I have sinned against heaven and in your sight, and am no longer worthy to be called your son.'"But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' And they began to be merry." ~Luke 15:18-24
"Therefore "Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you." "I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty." ~2 Corinthians 6:17-18
"A son honors his father, And a servant his master. If then I am the Father, Where is My honor? And if I am a Master, Where is My reverence? Says the Lord of hosts." ~Malachi 1:6
"As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father's commandments and abide in His love.You are My friends if you do whatever I command you.
No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you." ~John 15:9-10,14-15"For it was fitting for the Father, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the Captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.
For both He who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren,Inasmuch then as the children have partaken of flesh and blood, He Himself likewise shared in the same, that through death He might destroy him who had the power of death, that is, the devil,and release those who through fear of death were all their lifetime subject to bondage." ~Hebrews 2:10-11,14-15"No one has seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abides in us, and His love has been perfected in us. By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.And we have seen and testify that the Father has sent the Son as Savior of the world.Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God.And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world.There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love.We love Him because He first loved us." ~1 John 4:12-19
