WHY AM I DISCOURAGED? BECAUSE IT IS MY STRENGTH RATHER THAN GOD'S
My soul, you cannot fight the temptations of the Enemy with mere self willpower. The very antithesis to what God says in His Word, that: "You wrestle not against flesh and blood" (Ephesians 6:12) and "the weapons of your warfare are not carnal" (2 Corinthians 10:4) is that the strength and the power in the battle must be supernatural, they must come from God.
The reason you are discouraged by the hosts of the Enemy that lay a host of serpents and snares for your feet is because you are taking shelter in the shadow of your own flesh and frail strength, rather than "abiding in the shadow of the Almighty." (Psalm 91:1)
"Some trust in chariots, and some in horses; But we will remember the name of the Lord our God. They have bowed down and fallen; But we have risen and stand upright. Save, Lord ! May the King answer us when we call." ~Psalms 20:7-9
“Be strong and courageous; do not be afraid nor dismayed before the king of Assyria, nor before all the multitude that is with him; for there are more with us than with him. With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the Lord our God, to help us and to fight our battles.” And the people were strengthened by the words of Hezekiah king of Judah." ~II Chronicles 32:7-8
