It is against your own interests if you make yourself as the center of your loved one's life. You induce in her an expectation that can only be fulfilled by Someone infinite and unfailing. Step aside and make way for the King. He, not you, has the highest rights to intimacy with the one you love. It is in your best interests; for not only can He fulfill completely what you can only attempt to do finitely, but also He can replenish the empty vessel of your soul with His love that you can be once again anew and be mercifully, wonderfully used as a demonstration, sample of His great love towards the one you love (and whom He loves greater).
