THE INHERITANCE OF A LOVING-INTIMATE, FATHER vs. THE GUARANTEE OF STRANGERS

"Then the Rabshakeh stood and called out with a loud voice in Hebrew, and spoke, saying, “Hear the word of the great king, the king of Assyria! Do not listen to Hezekiah; for thus says the king of Assyria: ‘Make peace with me by a present and come out to me; and every one of you eat from his own vine and every one from his own fig tree, and every one of you drink the waters of his own cistern; until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive groves and honey, that you may live and not die. But do not listen to Hezekiah, lest he persuade you, saying, “The Lord will deliver us.” ~II Kings 18:28‭, ‬31‭-‬32

One of the many baits that will cause us to be ensnared in pornography is: Thoughtlessness. I know I'm not alone in my assessment of this for the English bishop J.C Ryle considered it one of the greatest vices in a young man's life.
We know children particularly put themselves at great risk when they cross a street without caution, looking both ways. Young men like me are in the same boat when we are not giving consideration to the temptation that is suggesting itself to our minds; we often are not considering well our steps as God already does with us.

"For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord , And He ponders all his paths." ~Proverbs 5:21

"The simple believes every word, But the prudent considers well his steps." ~Proverbs 14:15

My soul, before you let strangers, in the form of thoughts, say and lead you where you will, consider well your steps and of what you already have that God has given.

Could it be that what He has given is somehow lacking?
Could it be that He no more is able to offer an emotional and spiritual "Garden of Eden" like He did physically with your first parents?
Could it be that strangers (foreign and unusual thoughts) whom you have not intimately known nor have been your faithful counselors of old, are able to have your best interests (and not their own) in mind?

Yet as it is written:

"The heart knows its own bitterness, And a stranger does not share its joy." ~Proverbs 14:10

And also:

"His grace and peace is multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to you all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue."  ~II Peter 1:2‭-‬3

Truly, what He has given has no lack.

"Oh, fear the Lord , you His saints! There  is no want to those who fear Him. The young lions lack and suffer hunger; But those who seek the Lord shall not lack any good thing." ~Psalms 34:9‭-‬10

"And Jesus said to them, “When I sent you without money bag, knapsack, and sandals, did you lack anything?” So they said, “Nothing.” " ~Luke 22:35

"God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work." ~II Corinthians 9:8

What do you lack from Him that strangers can supply? Do not trust their word but His.

"The Lord is good, A stronghold in the day of trouble; And He knows those who trust in Him." ~Nahum 1:7

Have faith and believe that He is not minimal but abundant in His gifts.

"For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You...But You, O Lord, are a God full of compassion, and gracious, Longsuffering and abundant in mercy and truth." ~Psalms 86:5 & 15

"But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord , in the acceptable time; O God, in the multitude of Your mercy, Hear me in the truth of Your salvation." ~Psalms 69:13

"Hear me, O Lord , for Your lovingkindness is good; Turn to me according to the multitude of Your tender mercies." ~Psalms 69:16

"The Lord  is merciful and gracious, Slow to anger, and abounding in mercy." ~Psalms 103:8
