Rui POV

I took a deep breath in. The air was earthy, as I was in my garden. The sky was dark and everything around me was black, I wouldn't be able to see anything if it weren't for the candles that I placed in a circle.

In my library, I had a section for rituals. I had inherited all the books and didn't bother messing with them until now.

One book caught my eye, and it was a manual for summoning a dragon demon. The instructions were quite simple, and all I had to do was recite an incantation around a circle symbol with a blood offering and some candles in the dark.

Easy right?

I planted my palms in the damp soil and took a deep breath in. The words were in a different language, so I learned the pronunciation. By now, I had memorized every word in the spell and began to recite it.

"...Centnea impaiyatio sulalkus, Xaiiupus Atenoainea Infoyoity..!"

I repeated this line four times, stumbling over my words. Maybe I didn't have every word memorized.

After I finished, I shut my eyes. Nothing was happening, and I sighed.

No special lights, sounds, or anything! I frustratedly spoke, "Why did I think this was going to work in the first place?" I got up and steadied myself, stretching from the uncomfortable ground.

Just as I stepped forward to go, a heavy rumbling shook the Earth, causing some dust and pebbles to scatter around. I lost my footing and slid back, falling back down again. "What the hell is going on!?" I yelled, crawling in an attempt to get away.

A deep voice came from the dirt, and the ground shook as a hole opened in the summoning circle. "Walaeyre Vasoyesta!!??"

I stared at the hole as a blinding yellow light spilled out of it. It blasted high into the sky, and I was forced to close my eyes. "H-Huh?" I stuttered, completely speechless.

"I SAID," The voice started, "WHO SUMMONED ME HERE!?" I was nothing short of intimidated, and I felt my body start to tremble.

"I-I... I did!" I yelled back.

The sharp light dimmed slightly, and I opened my eyes to take in my surroundings. The wind picked up, and my hair and clothing breezed along with it.

A man with long blond hair was standing in the circle, and the candles had disappeared. There was an ominous light emanating from him, and he held an angry expression while staring down at me.

"So it was you?" His voice was softer, and he sounded less like a demon.

"This is..." I raised a brow. He looked awfully cute for a dragon and wasn't necessarily a dragon.

He was a person but had a long, scaly dragon tail. His eyes shone red and pierced through my body.

Slowly, he approached me. I gasped and backed up, hitting a tree. "Wait, don't hurt me-!" I shielded my face with my arms.

Without seeing, I knew that he was still getting closer because of his footsteps. He approached me until he was seemingly right in front of me. "Why would I? You summoned me to protect you, after all." He frowned. "Unless..."
