LUCY'S POV

"Sa basic principles of biology muna tayo.." Sabi ko kay Kai na naka-upo sa kaharap kong upuan at matiim na naka-tingin sakin habang naka-cross ang kanyang mga kamay.

Naghiwalay hiwalay kasi kami ng pwesto nila Kaylin para ma-focus sila Kai sa pagre-review. Wala kasing matatapos kung magkaka-sama sila.

"Tatanongin kita at dapat masagot mo nang tama ang tanong ko Kai.. Madali lang naman ang mga questions ko.. Mga na-lecture na satin ito ni Miss Diaz.. Hmm.. Okay lang ba sayo?" Tanong ko kay Kai na titig na titig sakin.

Matutunaw ako sa tingin nya..

"Okay pa sa okay, Teacher Lucy!" Naka-saludong sabi nya kaya napangiti ako.

"Okay.. What is biology?" Tanong ko.

"Biology is the scientific study of life. Like plants, animals, insects, bacteria and humans. It is a natural science with a broad scope but has several unifying themes that tie it together as a single, coherent field. For instance, all organisms are made up of cells that process hereditary information encoded in genes, which can be transmitted to future generations."  Nakangiti sagot ni Kai kaya nagulat ako. Pero hindi ko pinahalata sa kanya yon at hinanda ang sunod na tanong ko..

"What are three major branches of biology?"

"Botany, Zoology and Microbiology."

"What---"

"Botany is the branch of biology which deals with the study of different aspects of plants. Theophrastus is known as the father of Botany. Zoology is the branch of biology connected with the study of different aspects of animals. Aristotle is known as the father of Zoology.  Microbiology is the branch of biology dealing with the study of different aspects of microorganism. Leeuwenhoek is known as the father of Microbiology." Mahabang sagot ni Kai kaya lumawak ang ngiti ko. Sobrang saya ko dahil may alam naman pala sya kahit papaano.

"What are the 4 types of biology?"

"There are four primary categories: botany, human biology, microbiology and zoology."

"Who is the father of biology?"

"Aristotle is regarded as the Father of Biology. He is also regarded as the Father of Zoology. He started classification with two kingdoms Animal and Plantae. Aristotle's theory of biology is known as “Aristotle's Biology” which describes metabolism, temperature regulation, and embryogenesis."

"Hmm.. Why is biology important?"

"As a field of science, biology helps us understand the living world and the ways its many species (including humans) function, evolve, and interact. Advances in medicine, agriculture, biotechnology, and many other areas of biology have brought improvements in the quality of life."

"How does biology help us in leading a healthier life?"

"Biology is a study of living entities; hence it helps in understanding the behavioural characteristics of the living. The knowledge and study of biology has immensely helped in human health and advancement. Basic knowledge can help in self-analyzing causatives of diseases, different microbes causing diseases." Proud na sabi ni Kai kaya nag-thumbs up ako sa kanya. Sinara ko ang libro na hawak ko at nakangiting tiningnan sya.

"Kaya mo naman pala syang gawin kong magse-seryoso ka lang, Kai. How come you couldn't do it during the test?" Tanong ko.

Tumawa siya. "If you're my Teacher, I could probably get a full mark."
