The punishment that had seemed daunting was easily completed, leaving Luo Jinxiao with ample free time once more. Unable to use her spiritual power, she spent her days sweeping the courtyard idly or staring at the yellow dog in boredom.

As for the Qiongqi she had summoned, while it looked impressive, it mostly lounged in a corner, asleep. Its appetite was astonishing, devouring half a cow each day.

Initially, Luo Jinxiao managed to get some food from the kitchen, but that soon ended. Now, whenever the kitchen staff saw her coming, they would promptly shut their doors and windows as if warding off a thief.

One day, as she pondered where to hunt, she saw Luo Ning sneakily climbing over the wall with a large bundle on her back. The Qiongqi, catching a scent, leaped up excitedly, drooling as it approached.

"Shh, shh, shh," Luo Ning whispered urgently, glancing nervously at the door, worried Elder Liu might catch them.

"What brings you here?" Luo Jinxiao asked, stepping forward to steady her.

"This place is too secluded. I didn’t dare use spiritual power for fear Elder Liu would notice, so I had to sneak this in for you," Luo Ning replied, dropping the bundle to the ground, where the Qiongqi immediately buried its head, sniffing wildly.

With a swift gulp, it devoured the entire package, contents and all.

"I caught a wild boar in the woods this morning," Luo Ning said with a proud smile, seeking praise.

Luo Jinxiao patted her shoulder encouragingly, grinning even more brightly than her sister.

Just then, the door creaked open, and Elder Liu emerged, looking displeased. Luo Jinxiao, accustomed to his grumpy demeanor, remained still, but Luo Ning was startled, bowing her head awkwardly in greeting.

"Master, what brings you out today?" Luo Jinxiao beamed at him.

Elder Liu sighed, waving a hand in resignation. "Since taking you in, my courtyard has known no peace. What's happening today?"

He glanced at the Qiongqi sprawled contentedly on the ground and quickly understood.

"You've rested for a few days, so you must be well now. You can resume your training starting today. From now on, I will personally instruct you, without relying on books," Elder Liu sighed deeply.

"Are you serious, Master?" Luo Jinxiao exclaimed, both surprised and delighted, rushing to his side. "You're finally willing to teach me?"

Elder Liu frowned, nodding reluctantly, "Let me make it clear: if you truly are a hopeless case, I won't waste my efforts on you any longer. You'll have to return whence you came."

Luo Jinxiao nodded eagerly, unable to hide the joy in her eyes.

In these short days, she had developed an intense desire to grow stronger—something she had never felt before.

"Do you have a sword?" Elder Liu asked.

Luo Jinxiao was about to shake her head when she felt Luo Ning tug her sleeve, handing her a pouch.

Seeing Luo Jinxiao's puzzled look, Luo Ning whispered, "After you and Senior Aunt Qu disappeared that day, I waited in the woods. Instead of you, Senior Aunt Qu showed up and asked me to give you this pouch, saying it contained a weapon for you."
