The sky blazed with fiery red, as if the world itself were on the brink of collapse. Qu Weiyin had been engaged in a bloody battle with an unending horde of demons for an entire day and night. The ground was carpeted with demonic corpses, occasionally mixed with the bodies of individuals in white clothing, quickly dragged away.
“Damn it! Just how many demons are there? Have they gone mad? Master Uncle Qu has been holding out for an entire day and night; even the immortals would be exhausted! How much longer can this go on?” someone shouted from within the barrier.
Injured disciples were periodically carried back to Wuhui Palace for treatment. Everyone was exhausted, and the barrier increasingly weakened. Personnel repeatedly came and went to repair it, with only Elder Liu remaining steadfast, gritting his teeth to hold the line.
Elder He offered to relieve him, but was turned down.
Everybody hoped for a glimmer of hope.
“The people from Baiyue Sect are here, battling demons in Wuzhong City.”
“The cultivators from Qingyan Palace are nearby, but they’ve been blocked by the demons and their whereabouts are unknown.” Disciples returning from outside the barrier were continually exchanging information.
Yet no one could see a glimmer of hope.
The only ones holding the line were the Sect Master and Qu Weiyin, each battling in different directions, but they were nearly exhausted, struggling as their stamina began to deplete.
Qu Weiyin was still engulfed in demonic energy, her eyes a fierce crimson brimming with the intent to kill. Whether they were demons or spirits, anyone who approached her faced a certain death. Her Cracked Moon Star Sword was already stained with blood.
Across from her, Yu Gui appeared quite pleased, as if Qu Weiyin had entered the demon path, reminiscent of the Demon Lord from her past life.
“By the way, do you want to glance back and see how our people are breaking the barrier?” Yu Gui asked with a sly grin.
“Qing Yi?” Qu Weiyin replied coldly.
Yu Gui's expression changed dramatically, becoming a shade of ashen gray. “You know?”
“Thinking you can plant spies—dream on,” Qu Weiyin stated sharply. Suddenly, she held her hand out, and a sleeping girl appeared suspended in the air, quietly floating.
“Except for the members of the Qu family, you’re the only one who has seen my mother’s handwriting. How foolish I was in my past life to consider you a friend.”
“Yu Gui, you aren't worthy,” Qu Weiyin declared unequivocally, letting her hand drop. The girl plummeted from the sky, disappearing from sight.
“Fine, fine! Since you are so heartless, I won’t be merciful anymore!” Yu Gui responded vigorously before suddenly yelling. He stepped back forcefully, and another figure emerged—the little demon, Yao Yao, who had been trailing him.
Now, he appeared half-human, half-skeleton, engulfed in swirling dark energy.
Qu Weiyin's expression darkened as she raised her sword and wiped the splattered blood from her face with her empty hand, her blood-red eyes filled with ruthless intent.
In an instant, the two engaged in a fierce battle. The sky above seemed to be corrupted by the demonic energy as black mist and fire surged, forming a massive embroidered landscape behind Qu Weiyin—a tapestry that was both eerie and breathtaking.
Qu Weiyin’s crimson lips appeared even more enchanting, and she muttered something under her breath. The painting behind her spread forth like an enormous net, intending to shred everyone in front of her into bloody pieces.
