Luo Jinxiao had never experienced such an embarrassing moment in her life; someone had been hiding in the water, watching her bathe. In the bucket, Hua Xianrui sat soaking wet, droplets of crystal-clear water rolling down her long neck. She looked as delicate as a flower bud, and now that she was in the water, she resembled a beautiful lotus emerging from the pond.
Of course, Luo Jinxiao was oblivious to all of this; she could only hug herself, her face pale with fright.
Hua Xianrui blushed and giggled, playfully covering her face before deciding to get out of the bucket. Seeing this, Luo Jinxiao quickly stepped back and shouted for her to stop.
At that moment, the door burst open with a loud bang, and an aura of malevolence filled the room. A flash of red light appeared as Qu Weiyin instantly stood in front of Luo Jinxiao, gripping Hua Xianrui by the neck and lifting her effortlessly like a chick.
“Cough, cough, cough, help, help…” Hua Xianrui cried out, kicking her legs in panic.
Qu Weiyin nearly lost control of her killing intent; her knuckles were visibly tense, and the veins in her hands throbbed.
Seeing that things were getting serious, Luo Jinxiao hurriedly stepped forward to intervene but was abruptly pushed aside by Qu Weiyin, nearly toppling out of the window.
“Seeking death,” Qu Weiyin growled, and Hua Xianrui was terrified, letting out a high-pitched scream. In an instant, she transformed into a flutter of petals, slipping free from Qu Weiyin’s grasp and flying out of the window like a frightened moth, not daring to return.
Luo Jinxiao sighed in relief; it seemed Qu Weiyin hadn’t actually intended to kill her.
If she had truly harmed the demon king’s guest in a fit of anger, that would be utterly unacceptable.
Qu Weiyin’s anger hadn't subsided yet. She suddenly turned to face Luo Jinxiao, advancing towards her with purposeful steps.
“I was fully clothed; she didn’t see anything,” Luo Jinxiao said, her voice pitiful.
Qu Weiyin closed the distance between them, suddenly reaching out to grasp the disheveled opening of Luo Jinxiao’s clothing, her voice ethereal, “How long has she been here?”
Luo Jinxiao bit her lip, thinking it over before answering honestly, “Um… not long.”
“She didn’t see anything?” Qu Weiyin pressed.
“No, she didn’t!” Luo Jinxiao shook her head vigorously.
Qu Weiyin suddenly yanked Luo Jinxiao into the room, causing Luo Jinxiao to stumble and crash against the wall beside the bed. With the force of their commotion, the tree trunk beneath the tree house swayed for a few moments.
Startled, Luo Jinxiao patted her chest, thinking to herself that this Qu Weiyin, after entering the demon path, had indeed become, to a slight degree, a bit more volatile.
“I don’t want you to be seen by others,” Qu Weiyin suddenly said, her eyes growing even redder, the sanguine tint around her eyes more pronounced, leaving Luo Jinxiao unsure whether it was due to anger, or the reflection of her own blood-red irises.
“If anyone sees your body, I’ll gouge their eyes out.”
“No, no, no, no one can see. Just calm down, calm down,” Luo Jinxiao quickly reassured her, gently stroking her chest to ease her.
As the redness in Qu Weiyin’s eyes faded slightly, she looked up at Luo Jinxiao for a moment before suddenly extending her neck and leaning in closer, brushing her red lips against Luo Jinxiao's.
