Luo Jinxiao muttered an expletive under her breath, hastily putting on her clothes as she hurried out the door. Qu Weiyin’s room was empty as well, everything neatly arranged without any signs of her return.

Given that it was early morning and the sun hadn’t yet risen, where could Qu Weiyin have gone?

The courtyard door creaked open, and Luo Jinxiao quickly turned around, only to find Qiongqi and Tang Lanner emerging. They had been stirred awake by the sound of her frantic running, appearing groggy as they stepped outside.

“What are you doing up so early?” Tang Lanner yawned.

“Qu Weiyin is missing!” Luo Jinxiao rushed past them, her hair hastily tied up and trailing behind her, demonstrating her evident panic.

“Missing?” Tang Lanner paused, her eyes widening as she hurried to catch up with Luo Jinxiao, and the three of them dashed out the door together.

The villa was situated on the edge of the town, and with so few people outside, it felt particularly desolate. Luo Jinxiao still couldn’t sense Qu Weiyin’s presence, causing her anxiety to escalate.

Could it be that she left because she couldn’t resolve her inner turmoil?

No, Luo Jinxiao reassured herself. Qu Weiyin wasn’t the type to act recklessly. She might have just taken a walk.

But why didn’t she say anything?

Qiongqi blinked its large eyes and suddenly took off running down a narrow alleyway. Luo Jinxiao paused for a moment before remembering that Qiongqi could pick up scents and quickly followed suit.

The three of them ran through the town behind Qiongqi, the sky gradually brightening. Early-morning vendors were already setting up their stalls. Upon seeing the three of them, the vendors hurriedly stepped aside in surprise.

Luo Jinxiao felt an unsettling sense in their gazes but, anxious as she was, she didn’t dwell on it and pressed onward into a main street.

This was where she had bought the Dragon Whisker Crispy the day before. Now, it was in disarray, with shattered wood and stones scattered everywhere, along with some fallen fruits and vegetables.

It looked as though there had just been a fight. Frowning, Luo Jinxiao scanned the area and approached the most damaged shop, where the shopkeeper wore a grim expression as he tried to rearrange tables and chairs.

“Excuse me, did a woman in red come by here?” she asked.

The shopkeeper was a middle-aged man with a wrinkled face, who looked up and said, “You’re talking about that demon? Just a while ago, several celestial elders came here, chasing after the demon, and it turned into complete chaos. We common folks couldn’t dare to watch; by the time I came out, everything was already like this!”

“Do you recognize those celestial elders?” The middle-aged man suddenly grabbed Luo Jinxiao’s clothing, refusing to let her go. “We’re all just mortals. Who’s going to pay for all this damage!”

Luo Jinxiao had no time to argue with him. She pulled her arm away, leaving the mess in the shop to Tang Lanner, and turned to fly toward the town’s exit.

Below, the townspeople gasped in surprise, but Luo Jinxiao paid them no heed. Her worry deepened; if that were the case, Qu Weiyin had been targeted by the celestial sects.

She couldn’t tell which sects were involved or if it was serious.

At this point, she could feel traces of spiritual energy without needing Qiongqi to lead the way. The two of them, one flying and the other riding a sword, hastened toward the mountains outside the town.
