Back with IT, it didn't take long to get my phone back.
"We thought you might appreciate a sturdier phonecase." The woman who handed me my device said.

"Thanks." I mumbled and made my way back to the upper floors.

There were at least a dozen missed calls from Ashley. Since we had already talked, I decided to ignore those.
The Seven group chat, however, had been flooded with texts.
I skimmed through them but couldn't make any sense of them.
There were also messages from Starlight and Maeve. I didn't bother to open the chats. The messages that popped up were the same for both of them.
*MEETING NOW!*

I made my way to the conference room and saw that everyone except Homelander was present.

"Look who decided to show up!" Starlight shouted.

"So you're not dead after all." Maeve huffed.

"What is going on?" I questioned.

"That's what we wanna know. What were you doing on the rooftop." Starlight said.

"None of your fucking business. That's what." I answered angrily.

"Starlight told us you looked really rough when she encountered you." Maeve stated.

"Oh, did she." I said, annoyed.

"And that you went up there a second time. What did you do up there?"

"Made some human goulash! That's what Red did!" Starlight raged. "Who even was that? And what justification do you have to do something like that!" She yelled.

"What the fuck are y'all talking about???" I asked confused.

"We're talking about the dude whose innards decorate the roof." Deep explained.
"Starlight says you acted suspicious. We just want to know what happened up there."

"I assure you, it is none of your business what happened up there and it didn't involve whoever that rooftop dude is." I tried to explain.

"Yeah, right." Starlight rolled her eyes.

"I wanted to watch the sunset. I then stayed a bit longer and went back down because I got cold. I noticed I had misplaced my phone and went back to get it." I said.

"That doesn't make any sense." A-Train countered.

"Oh my fuck." I groaned. "Okay. Homelander and I fucked up there. He gave me his cape because my clothes were none recoverable. I left my phone behind and went back to get it. It was broken, so I brought it down to IT, where they fixed it for me. There was no dude there when we did it, and there was no dude there when I retrieved my phone." I stated firmly.

"Then who is that on the roof, and who killed him?" Deep asked, confused.

"I don't know, and honestly, I don't care!" I grumbled.
