Footsteps drew closer and Maeve stood in the doorway. "WHAT the fuck!" She yelled.
I rolled my eyes at her and she gave me a snarl. "Don't you give me that look! Remember who you asked when Starlight dropped your sorry ass."
"Shut your trap!" I yelled and stomped over to her. "Don't you dare speak to me in that tone, Maeve." I spat.
"Oh so you think you're sooo big now that you curled up in Homelanders ass and killed Edgar." She huffed angrily.
"Don't get too comfortable."
"Leave." I said with grittet teeth.
"Or what?"
"I'll make you scratch your eyeballs out and have you eat them." I threatened.
"I'd like to see you try." Meave countered and pushed me away.
I kicked her feet from under her and she hit the floor hard. I stepped onto her hair and watched her squirm.
"Thats enough." Homelander threw in making me stand still.
"This doesn't involve you." I sighed.
"Oh. Oh I'm sorry, what did you say?" He asked daring. "You, mutilating a member of our team doesn't involve me? I beg to differ." He said and moved closer.
"We'll find a replacement."
"Let her go." He huffed and added a stern, "Now."
I stepped aside and watched Maeve get back up. "I told you. You're just another one of his toys." She said barely above a whisper.
I turned around and grabbed her hair and pulled her hair down so she looked up at me.
"I AM NOT!" I yelled and threw her to the side. Without me as a support she fell. "If you disrespect me again I WILL end you."
I looked over at Homelander. "I am NOT your pet." I exclaimed harshly and walked toward the bathroom.
I tried to ignore their voices but no matter how hard I tried to concentrate on the water pushing its way out of the focet. I could still hear them loud and clear.
"You will never speak to Red that way again. Are we clear."
"I speak to whom I want, how I want."
"Not to us. Unless you don't value your little girlfriends life anymore."
"Leave her out of this. She had nothing to do-"
"I don't care." Homelander stated quickly. "If you talk to either of us like that again. I won't stop Red."
"Why'd you do it now anyways? You don't really have feelings for me left, do you?" She said and I felt my chest tightening.
"You had your chance." He said. "Of course you're replacable. However the timing is less than ideal." He sighed. "Now get out."
Maeve limped out of the room and I heard Homelander sigh, then he started walking towards the bathroom.
He stopped in front of the door but halted his movement.
"I heard you. Your heart. The way it seemed to stop." He whispered against the door.
"You didn't answer her." I croaked.
"Isn't it obvious? I love you. Noone but you y/n." He sighed.
I turned off the water and emerged from the bathroom.
I looked up at him, his gaze piercing mine until he hugged me tightly. "Only you." He said quietly.
"Only you." I repeated and let him hold me.
We let eachother go.
"I have a meeting in five." He stated and I nodded.
"I should check with marketing. See they don't fuck shit up again." I sighed and headed out.
Up with the marketing team I listened to their ideas and how the campain had been going since I left them to it.
"You know what. What is your name?" I pointed to a woman with dark brown box-braids. "Shalyssa." She answered quickly.
"You seem competend enough." I nodded to myself and clapped my hands together. "Everyone! From now on, Shalyssa over here is taking my spot as head of marketing. She is your new boss and decides whatever there is to decide." I anounced and turned to her "go crazy, girl." And walked out.
I heard some mumbling followed by Shalyssa taking action. Satisfyed by my decision I went up to inform Stillwell. She was nowhere to be found, so I left her a message and went back down.
