"Self-centered bitch." She huffed and I froze. I turned slowly as I opened my mouth, Ashley's eyes grew wide snd her face went pale.
"You DARE talk to ME like that!!!" I yelled and both covered their ears.
"Don't you forget WHO is in charge of this shithole!" I told them daringly.
"It certainly isn't you." Starlight huffed and looked up at me.
I punched her square in the face and watched as she fell back. "Anone else got shit to say!?" I yelled and watched Ashley run away. "That's what I thought."
I finally got to the apartment without any other interferences. On the bed lay a box and a note.
"For my little birdy. Love, John." With an ugly little heart drawn in a corner.
I smiled at it and put the note aside.
The boxed contained a nice but still comfy looking outfit.
My assuption was correct, as the soft fabric proved to be very comfortable indeed.
"Knock knock." Homelander sang happily.
I turned around and was surprised to see him dressed equally comfortable/ neat.
"You look good." He smiled softly.
"Same goes for you." I stated happily and hugged him. "Whats the occasion?" I asked.
"Do I need a reason to go on a date with you?" He asked but his heart rate quickend ever so slightly.
"Fair enough. We haven't been there in a while." I agreed and so we made our way out and over to the small cafè John had shown me all that time ago.
Tea lights and rose pedals were scattered in front of the hidden entrance of the cafe. "What's all this about?" I asked and he shrugged.
"Its paris. They always got something like that going on, don't they?" He said casually.
Homelander blew out most of the lights as we landed. "Ups." He said awkwardly and re-lit the candles with his laser gaze.
"Fixed it." He said proudly.
John opened the door for me, inside the cafè, multiple candles lit up the small place. Roses scattered across the already tiny space and the scent of candle wax, roses and hot chocolate filled the air.
"Wow. This is very nice." I said and John hugged me from behind.
"It is." He breathed. "The usual, please." John called over to the faniliar face of the places owner, who nodded and started his work.
"I know, you were eavesdropping, y/n." He exhaled. "Don't say anything." He added quickly but wasn't done. "I handled it. Nothing to worry your pretty little head about."
"Thank you."
"There is something else I wanted to talk to you about." He said more serious than the tone before.
"I have heard from multiple sources that you have been acting more like you are incharge of Vought. Handing over your duties without consulting Stillwell." He said and I tried to explain but Homelander held his hand up. "I'm not done." He stated and I kept quiet. "Talking down to Starlight. And the whole situation with Maeve." He sighed.
"Homelander..." I started but he shook his head.
"To me it seems you are assuming the role of a leader. And those who don't respect that, face concequences. I have heard your little altercation with Starlight earlier." He stated matter of factly. "The others see you as one of them. Do you understand that?" He asked.
"I do." I sighed heavily.
"Good. Then you understand that we can't let this keep going on, not like this." He said and my heart sank.
Homelander took my hands into his and smiled faintly. He got down on one knee, still holding my hands as he asked:
"Y/n, y/ln. Will you marry me?"
My face went red, I felt lightheaded and my heart seemed to explode.
Did the Homelander just propose to me...?
