A-Train sighed and stood into his seat. "What a waste of time." With that, he zipped away.
"Oh fuck this. I don't care who killed who." Maeve stated angrily, shooting daggers at Starlight and left the room.
"So the meetings over?" Deep asked, and Noir nodded.
They both got up and left.
"Perhaps you should stick to saving living people. Leave the dead ones to the authorities." I said with a sly grin and walked out of the room.
Outside stood Ashley. I grimaced, and she tried to fix her disheveled appearance.
"What do you want?" I questioned, annoyed.
"Nothing. I was looking for Starlight!" She stuttered.
I gestured inside the room and pushed past her.
As I walked down the hallway, I was surprised by Tek Knight. His tall frame leaned against one of the supporting pillars or the hallway.
"Red Canary." He stated and grinned as he pushed himself off the pillar.
"Tek Knight." I threw back at him with a sour undertone.
"Where are you headed to?" He asked and got closer to me.
"None of your business." I stated calmly.
"Oh ho, someone's not having a good day, huh?" He grinned and inspected me closely.
"What?" I asked sharply, and his hands went up in a defensive manner.
"Hey, hey now. There's no need to be rude. I wanted to talk to you." He stated and blocked my way.
"Where were you after you got down from the roof?" He asked. "The second time, I mean."
"Why does everyone feel the need to stalk me." I huffed, annoyed. "I went down to IT. Had my phone fixed."
"Why was it broken?" He asked, staring intently at my face. "Increased heartrate. Light Blushing. Oho seems like someone had fun up there." He stated and chuckled.
"Why bother asking if you're just gonna answer it yourself?" I asked. "Also. You disgust me. There was no need for me to see whatever you and Bitchley did. I'll have to get someone to erase that memory." I added and gagged.
At first, his face went pale, and then the color came back abruptly and turned almost crimson. He opened his mouth, but I shushed him.
"I don't care what you have to say. I don't wanna hear it. If I have to experience something like that, ever again, I'll make y'all tear eachothers eyes out."
He promptly closed his mouth and nodded.
He hesitated to speak, and I hoped he wouldn't. But he did. "Did you notice anything else on the roof?"
"If you're talking about the dead guy. No. Somehow, I managed to completely miss him when I retrieved my phone."
I spat and walked about from him.
Pulling out my phone, I clicked on Homelanders Conact and waited for him to pick up.
"We need to talk so you better get your ass to our apartment asap." I told his voice-mail and hung up.
I angrily madr my way back to our apartment and opened up the backups.
I prepared everything, but Homelander didn't show up.
"Fuck this." I cursed and double clicked the folder with his name on.
A bunch of 'collateral damages' dated back to 1999. I scimmed the first one and was surprised to read about the 'accident.' it was worded as if it had really been accidental. As the years progressed, however, it became apparent somewhere along the way, Homelander's actions shifted into something less accidental.
There were no Herogasm files, at least I didn't have to worry about that anymore.
The folder dated 1981 caught my eye.
I read through it and found a bunch of experiment logs.
Tears blurred my vision as I tried to read through the log entries.
My heart broke, reading all the horrible notes left by the scientists.
I felt the air shift, I dried my eyes and turned to the doorway.
"Thought you didn't notice anything on the roof." Tek Knigt accused.
"Who was that. And why doesn't it surprise me that you smiley fucker are involved?"
"Red Canary. Let me explain." He sighed and walked closer.
"Take another step, and I'll let your eardrums explode." Tek Knight stopped dead in his tracks, hand up defensively.
"He was a former employee at my company. I don't know how he got this yet." He explained and gestured to my tablet. "But I'll find out. And I'll prevent any leaks."
"You better." I threatened. "Get on that right now!" I yelled, and Tek Knight powerwalked off.
"What was that about?" Homelander inquired as he moved over to me, his eyes landing on the tablet.
"Where were you? I had to leave you a message!" I shouted at him while his eyes fixated on the screen.
"Maybe you wanna answer me!?" I raged.
"Had to take care of something. What's this?" He asked, his heartrate picked up as he read through the logs.
"You know what that is. Better question, first of all why didn't you tell me about this- and also, what the fuck does taking care of something mean?"
"Where did you get that?" He cocked out, heartrate still getting faster.
"How about you answer me first." He just stared on. "For fuck's sake John what the hell is going on with you!"
