This is more over a hear me out thing.
But still, hear me out.
There's a pet trend going around where the pets ask "How much did I cost?" when they were bought and brought home. And the next page would be showing how much they cost or if they were found. As well as a few facts over their early days.
And I've been waiting for someone to do the trend but like a poor innocent child asking it instead or something. Like, they got confused over the trend and just assumed that it was the cost of keeping them or something or whatever. More so if the child was adopted, since some places hold adoption bills.
It got me thinking over the paladins doing it once they hit earth after winning the war and hear about the trend going about. Only problem was, they didn't fully understand the trend correctly and a misunderstanding grew.
Keith would have most likely finished filming his with Cosmo.
The whole "Picked him up on the back of a space whale and he hasn't stopped following me since" type of answer given over Cosmo's cub's years.
And Keith excitedly passes his phone to Shiro, ready to carry on the trend.
Shiro assumes that Keith needs help being filmed or filming Cosmo for whatever reason and accepts the phone. Before freezing as Keith stands there all curious but smug and goes "How much did I cost, Takashi?".
Shiro, who'd probably know the full trend, takes the chance to be a big brother once more and doesn't correct his little brother at all over the misunderstanding. Shiro finds the old photos over Keith, knowing Adam kept them somewhere safe, and pulls out the security footage from the Garrison's police station area where Keith is seen sat and handcuffed.
"He was free. He stole my car and I ended up keeping him afterwards. Finders Keepers as they say" and Shiro, only feels a little bit guilty when Keith uploads the video before laughing as it grows popular enough that Shiro could forever tease Keith over this trend for life.
Pidge and Matt both know the real truth over the trend and don't plan to get involved. Even after Keith had told them that he and Shiro did it already. Lance and Hunk seemed willing to give it a go but the Holt's weren't going to embarrass themselves. Not when they were both still grounded by their mother for the whole space trip thing.
But Colleen learns over the trend by the paladins chatter and is also grown mistaken over the trend. Leaving the Holt's to be dragged into the trend anyway.
Colleen is a scary lady but she is sappy for her husband.
"The moment I saw my husband, I knew the best of our genes would pop out the most perfect children. And they did. Look at these two, perfection. My genes fought hard to give me the best of my husband" Colleen proudly states before the camera her children are holding.
"I just did what my wife told me and she blessed me with marriage, a loving home and my beautiful children. My children cost me my hair growing grey but I love them anyway" Sam kindly says into the camera as his wife is beaming proudly in the background over winning her husband in life.
Pidge and Matt would search for adoption papers or test results that prove they were cloned somehow but the Holt genes are too strong in them to doubt.
Lance would stand with his mum, all giggly and excited as he questions his mum over the cost. And Mrs McClain, that doesn't fully understand what is going on but had seen both the Kogane-Shirogane and the Holt's video just tries her best anyway.
"I just copied and pasted my children until I had an army of tall people to reach the top shelves for me" Mrs McClain says into the video, Lance laughing in the background.
Hunk, bless his soul, goes towards his parents and ready to do the trend next. But his parents already know about the trend and kindly refuses to join in. His big sister on the other hand just perks up and goes "Isn't that trend for animals?" and exposes the truth that way. His parents were trying to hide the truth to not embarrass him nor his friends while his married sister just rips the plaster off without mercy.
Hunk dosen't tell his fellow paladins the truth, he knows those videos have already travelled all across the universe and can't be hidden from view anymore. So, he saves them the embarrassment but not telling them over the real trend.
