A/N: This oneshot is Kinda inspired by "solo leveling". It won't really follow the plot of the anime but this is a oneshot I've been wanting to write up for sometime after watching a certain episode ages ago.
Solo Leveling is basically about portal fantasy. Where portals to the "Other/Demon" worlds. The portals open a gate between the two worlds, and hunters that gain the rankings between A-E, A being top hunter and E being the weakest, E is practically an unskilled regular person that can't train up nor fight. There is also S ranks but that're very rare and of course, the big dogs.
Anyway, not all humans are able to become an Hunter and are tested if they fall into a hunter rank by the government. Hunters get paid to enter gates that open and to kill the "boss" to close the gate. If the gates are left open too long, there is a risk the monsters/demons/beasts will be able to cross over onto Earth.
So, it's a fantasy genre with all different skillsets.
Type of Hunters:
Fighters: Hunters who are experts in melee.
Tankers: As the title suggests, these are hunters who fortify their defence over offense.
Assassins: Stealthy hunters who excel in agility and melee.
Mages: Hunters who are experts in sorcery and magic.
Rangers: Hunters who are experts in archery through magic.
Healers: Hunters who support other hunters through their healing powers.

Side Ship, for now: Shadam.
Katie wasn't sure what to expect when she had signed up for her first gate with a team that were a bunch of strangers to her. Seemed a few within the group of ten were a formed party of their own but needed extra numbers to reach the demanded number needed to pass through the gate portal. The party was a team of four, all leaning towards middle aged and clearly been hunters for a few gates together already. Another two members of the group seemed to be friends or seemed to have at least done a few gate runs together in the past to be trustful comrades together. Leaving Katie and the three left to all be strangers and left not really knowing anyone else.
It left Katie feeling a little better that she wasn't the only one feeling a little like an outsider and held no real footing towards the formed party for the gate run. It meant that none of them held much of a gameplan or held some steady flow together that she'd mess up by not following along as smoothly.
With Hunters being as badly needed as they were, she was thankfully overlooked for being fourteen years old. No one looked much at her permission contract she had swiftly signed and added her personal details too like everyone else did with their permission contracts given to them.
And with her being the youngest, it also meant that no one expected much from it. Something she was grateful for. She was happy to be the bag lady for them all. To have her first experience on a gate run and learn over her own strengths and weakness. To learn where she stands through the other side of a portal.
