Edna St. Vincent Millay once said that Childhood is not from birth to a certain age, and at a certain age the child is grown and puts away childish things. Childhood is the kingdom where nobody dies.
I wonder what Edna would say if her parents suddenly disappeared and she was left behind in the woods.

🐺Ten years ago🐺

I was 6 when my parents suddenly disappeared.
We lived close to Forks Washington, my father came from the Quillian tribe from the La push reservation, my mom lived in Forks before they got married and then had me.
We moved out when I was a baby, we only ever came to Forks during the summer and stayed on the Res close to an old friend of my father's.
Mother and father asked if I would like to move back a few weeks ago.
We were going to go back home to get our stuff to move onto the reservation.
But something happened the night before we were going to go home, they left, and they never came back.
Two loud howls broke the silence of the peacefull evening and that's what woke me up.
I knew the storys, how the wolves were our brothers and sisters, how we could shift with the power of the wolf.
But still I was six, and I had fears.
I got up and went to my parents room.
'Maybe daddy can talk to them'.
I was to small to reach their door nob, but it wasn't closed either.
I said rubbing my eyes.
"Mommy, daddy, brother and sister are outside again".
They were silent and I opened my eyes to see that they weren't in there bed.
I then said scared.
"Mom dad".
The wolves howl again and I covered my ears and ran.
I got out and fallen, I got up and cried out.
"Mommy, daddy".
I've been running in the woods for so long, I didn't notice that the night was slowly turning into day.
I stopped and cried out as I couldn't find mom and dad.
"Momma, Papa"!
I looked up as I cried and paused seeing the road.
'Maybe if I could flag down a cop they can help me find mommy and daddy'.
I went to the roads and soon as I set foot on it a twig snapped and I turned around and gasped.
A man with strawberry blond hair with curly ends and gold eyes was there.
He was probably younger than dad but my instincts were telling me not to trust him.
He then said.
"You lost darlin"?
I then said being honest as a tear escaped my eye.
"Mommy and daddy say to not trust strangers.
(I then began tp cry.)
But I can't find my mommy and daddy".

He bended down and said.
"And that's a solid rule.
(He held his hand out and smiled.)
My name's Jasper whitlock little lady.
(I was now giggling as I shack his hand.)
What's your name darlin"?
I then said .
"My name's Y/n Adolpha Mister Jasper".
He then said.
"Nobel wolf, pretty name".
He saw that I was bare foot and he said picking me up.
"I'm going to get you to the police and they can help you find your mom and dad".
There were growls and I felt scared, not just for me but for Jasper to.
Two white wolves came out and I began to cry when I saw the dried blood on their mouths.
I then said.
"They killed mommy and daddy".
They let their guard down and whimpered as they looked at me.
'We're still here baby girl, it's still us'.
I held onto Jasper and cried.
Jasper ran and when I looked up again, we were on a street with houses bigger than the one we stayed in while we were here for the summer.
Jasper then said setting me down
"I got to go Y/n".
I held onto his hands and said.
"No I want to stay with you, your my friend".
Jasper then said.
"And we'll see each other again soon, but you won't be safe at my house.
(I nodded understanding him, not knowing that I understood it all better than I thought.
Jasper pointed to the house three houses down, with bright blue paint.)
Chief Charlie swan lives there on this street, he has an older daughter right around your age that lives with her mom, she just left though and he misses her.
He can take care of you".
I looked at Jasper and I asked.
"Thank you friend".
He then said before disappearing.
"Anytime darlin".
I went to the house and said as I knock, feeling tired.
"I feel so sleepy".
I fallen asleep on Charlie porch, when I woke up again, I was in the hospital where Charlie was waiting at my bed side.
He noticed that I was awake and the doctor came in and he said seeing that I'm awake.
"Well good morning sweet heart, you really scared us when Chief Swan found you on his porch, can you tell is your name"?
I had a feeling that if I told the truth something bad would happen to them, to anyone that knew.
I then said.
"Y/n I think sir".
Doctor then looked to Charlie and said.
"She must have faced tramua before coming up onto your door step Chief".
Charlie then coming closer, and gentally toke hold of my hand.
He spoke softly.
"Your safe now sweet heart.
What ever your scared of you can tell us".
I then began crying, I then said.
"The wolves killed mommy and daddy.
(The doctor imeaditly began checking me for injuries.)
I was so scared when I couldn't find them, I was running in the woods.
Mommy and daddy are gone".
Charlie then hugged me and said.
"Your safe now sweet heart, your safe now.
I got you, I got you".
