Roman Catholics often try to argue for the deity/veneration of Mary the mother of Jesus by this passage in Luke:
"For He has regarded the lowly state of His maidservant; For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed." ~Luke 1:48
We do not deny this passage is part of God's Word, yet we do not view such passages individually but rather in balance together with the rest of God's Word as a whole. Our Catholic brothers have to take into account two important facts from God's Word:
1. If the veneration/worship of Mary was so important to Christ, He would surely have preached it during His ministry and passed on such teachings/command to His disciples to preach to all the world. We don't find any such command or exhortation anywhere from either Christ or the apostles.
2. This first fact is supported by how Jesus responded when someone declared praise to His mother, in Luke 11:27-28: "And it happened, as He spoke these things, that a certain woman from the crowd raised her voice and said to Him, "Blessed is the womb that bore You, and the breasts which nursed You!" But He said, "More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!" "It is certainly a merciful blessing that brings glory to God that Mary should have been chosen and used by Him to bear His Son. Yet God directs our attention to something more important: Hearing His Word and keeping it. As can be seen if one studies God's Word, if God considered Mary as one to be upheld and given worshipful attention, God's Son, Jesus Christ would have surely given some part of His time on earth preaching about it including His disciples after Him. The "doctrine of Mother Mary" oddly enough "remained silent" and did not emerge or get taught in the Church until long after the deaths of the 12 apostles.
"I am the Lord, that is My name; And My glory I will not give to another, Nor My praise to carved images." ~Isaiah 42:8
"For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus, who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time..." ~1 Timothy 2:5-6
