The Case of the Purest Human Blood

Every five hundred years, a human will be born with the purest blood of all. Its scent was undeniably the sweetest a vampire could ever encounter but not all vampires can detect this type of blood. Only the royal-blooded vampires can, but this is not the end of it. The purity of the human's blood attracts the royal-blooded but only one royal-blooded can be attracted. This one pure-blooded human is only intended for one royal-blooded.

As recorded in the books of vampire history, if one royal-blooded smelled it, others cannot. This is because certain traits of the pure-blooded human can also be observed on the royal-blooded. It was like the life of the royal-blooded was continuously being crafted into a human person before its right time to be born. This is why pure-blooded humans are distinct.

Even though this is the situation between the Royal-blooded and the pure-blooded, there is a possibility that they will not meet. Over the years vampires existed in this world, there are four cases that have been found but the recent three cases' quests were futile.

Now, about the pure blood of this human is a dangerous challenge. Its scent is very intoxicating and undeniably irresistible. The royal-blooded can go berserk with the smell as it can get you drunk just by a second of contact with his/her heightened sense of smell. It was like the game, taming the lion, control is the most essential need of the vampire.

This was written on the first page of the book but a part of it at the end was torn so I didn't know what was written next. I flipped the page to the next and saw another entry:

A warning must be received because the word pure could deceive you. The human blood is harmless but in its purest form, it is poison. The royal-blooded must not drink from the pure-blooded human because once the thirst is quenched, it will turn into poison as it reacts with the vampire's foreign body and in just a second, one could die.

The quest to find these pure-blooded is to eradicate them before another royal-blooded vampire's life is lost.

I got confused, not because of what was written but because the penmanship used on the first entry was different from the second one. I got intrigued by this information and observed what was written again but got surprised that I didn't notice the torn pages prior the supposed to be first page of the book. Now, I'm more inquisitive than before. Some entries in this book were missing and whoever ripped the missing pages must be hiding something.

Who could it be and what is he trying to hide?

My deep thoughts were interrupted by someone, "hey, what you got there?" Junhoe asked, peeking over my shoulder.

"I think I found the answer," I stated as I stood up, hearing Jisoo and Hanbin ran toward where Junhoe and I was.

"What?"

"Where?"

"What is it?"

They asked in unison as I walked toward the sofa. I placed the book on the coffee table for them to see.

"Waahh~Gold!" Jisoo exclaimed innocently which made me roll my eyes.

"This book contains the answer but some entries are missing and I feel like something's not right. Someone must've torn the pages off to hide something," I explained as Junhoe opened the book, checking if what I said was true.

"But who could it be?" Junhoe asked as he ran his fingers through the torn pages.

"And what was his/her reason to do that?" Hanbin followed in asking as he furrowed his eyebrows, thinking.

"I think that was what Lisa was trying to say. She wants us to find it out ourselves," Jisoo smirked, feeling her excitement at the new mission.

"You're right, Jichu unnie~" I said happily. It's the first time she got what I was trying to say.

"Lisa, be careful around Jennie. It was stated here that her blood was poison to you," Junhoe said, reading what was written.

"We don't know yet if that book was telling the truth," I said in reply.

"But just be careful. Yes, we don't know if it's true yet but what if it's really true?" Hanbin tried to reason out.

"They're right. We couldn't be too sure of anything so being careful is not really wrong at this time," Jisoo supported the two, making me in defeat.

"Alright. I'll be careful around her," I said as I stood up. "Try finding the missing pages around here in the library or at least some clues. Match the handwriting on the other books or something," I ordered.

"Okay. We'll do that. Now, go get your girl!" Junhoe said which earned him a smack on the back of his head from Jisoo while I just blushed unconsciously.

"Ya! We just said that she should be careful around her!" Jisoo reprimanded.

"I was just joking!" Junhoe said while wincing in pain, rubbing the spot while Hanbin was just laughing.

"Ya! Lalisa, are you blushing?" Hanbin teased me which made me glare at him.

"No, I'm not!" I defended as I turned my back on them, ready to leave.

"Yes, you are! I can smell your burning cheeks from miles~ away!" Junhoe teased which made me blush more. I heard two smacks simultaneously and the groans of the two boys.

"Ya! Stop it!" Jisoo scolded but laughed. "But go get her, monkey!" She said as she laughed.

Those dorky friends of mine. Aish!

I shook my head as I exited the library and walked toward the double doors.

Please don't be my poison, Jennie.
