[Surrender everything to me and I shall grant you aid in overcoming all the obstacles that stand in your way.]

The regal tone of the Half-Monarch carries both strength and confidence making his words even more convincing to the ears of those who are powerless to resolve the issues of their own circumstances but more so than that-

*...!!!* it would be impossible for those beneath the realms of a Half-Monarch to notice this but the moment these words had come out of the Half-Monarch's mouth they are accompanied by a secondary wave of sound that is inaudible to the ears at first.

[Uh...!]

But almost as soon as this sound wave along with the words of the Half-Monarch is transmitted into Ye Gui Feng's ears the side of his head throbs in pain. A droning noise that's difficult to describe with words went off in his head as he hears the same words from before being played on an infinite loop.

Pressing his brows together the noise quickly intensifies in volume and realizing how the situation may only continue to worsen Ye Gui Feng rotates his cultivation base.

With each repetition of the Half-Monarch's words the feeling of there being something coiling itself around his head becomes more evident to Ye Gui Feng and to his astonishment he can gradually feel the presence of an unknown force of power attempting to suppress his will.

The nature of this energy is similar to that of a hand that is intent on wiping away the soul of anything it touches. It need not be said what would happen should this hand succeed in its task.

[...]

Closing his eyes completely Ye Gui Feng increases the speed in which his cultivation base is rotating as blue flames erupt and shrouds his body. These blue colored flames are none other than his spirit senses taking on a concentrated appearance and as the shroud of flames begin to expand the unknown energy that has invaded his body is gradually purged.

The moment this energy is purged Ye Gui Feng spews out an odorless purple mist from his mouth before looking towards the Half-Monarch with evident wariness in his eyes.

[...]

Towards the way in which Ye Gui Feng had dealt with abrupt crisis the corners of the Half-Monarch's lips are raised unnoticeably.

[...]

There's no doubt in Ye Gui Feng's mind that so long as one isn't a Half-Monarch themselves they would never be able to remain calm in the presence of this person. Any sort of word that deals with promising another something is akin to the tempting whispers of a devil should they come from their mouth and the method that was just used to attack him is probably something unique to a Half-Monarch.

(Was that supposed to be a test of some kind?)

There's no way for Ye Gui Feng to know for certain and the Half-Monarch seems to have no interest in answering.

If those words from before had been said by another Ye Gui Feng can readily dismiss it as nothing more than a joke for he wouldn't think twice to regard that speaker as nothing more than a trickster because the being that stands in his way is none other than an Original Monarch.

Just how many individuals out there would have the courage to promise Ye Gui Feng that they would aid him in the feat of taking a monarch down?

This situation in which a stranger had come along to offer him a deal using the kind of words that he had wished to hear from the mouth of a superior existence shouldn't be any different.

They should also be nothing more a trickster and yet in the face of this stranger Ye Gui Feng can't find the will to instantaneously refuse them because he can instinctively tell that hope truly did exist beyond the doors of the stone gate.

This hope rests in the transcendental existence that stands above the myriad lifeforms with only the ten Original Monarchs looming over them, a Half-Monarch.

Since time immemorial the promise of a Half-Monarch has always been something of priceless value because their very existence is considered by many to be omnipotent with their strength only surpassed by the Original Monarchs.

But being surpassed is only something of the past.

In the modern world it would be difficult to say which is truly stronger when taking the common circumstances of the Original Monarchs into consideration.

The old monsters who know of the Original Monarchs' strength at their prime all have a single question in mind.

Have the Original Monarchs fallen to the point in which a Half-Monarch, someone born from the void of their laws become able to compete against them?

There is not a single person out there who can say for certain but the chances of it being true cannot be disregarded and in the eyes of those who wish to take down an Original Monarch for personal reasons this chance can only be high for it shines to them like a mysterious beckon of light that draws them towards uncertainty.

Hence the promise of this Half-Monarch being willing to lend him aid to overcome all obstacles that stand in his way is something that Ye Gui Feng cannot treat lightly even if he isn't able to put full faith in them.

It goes without saying that within this world the sort of person who possesses the rights to promise Ye Gui Feng of anything in the matters of dealing with an Original Monarch is a Half-Monarch.

But what exactly did surrendering everything entail?

Just what kind of price must be paid to move a Half-Monarch into action?

One must know that the numbers of things that can move a Half-Monarch's heart can readily be counted with their fingers and amongst them the method of being able to assail into a realm of cultivation that is equal to an Original Monarch is probably the most valuable piece of information obtainable for individuals of their status and power.

But even before thinking of the price that must be paid to move these individuals into action there is something else that Ye Gui Feng wanted to hear.

[...And the other choice?]

The moment Ye Gui Feng had forced these words out of his mouth he felt almost as if a large puff of air had been removed from his lungs in a single pull.

[...]

[...]

[...]

The chilling glares of the individuals that made up the sea of crowds instantaneously caused the temperature around Ye Gui Feng to drop.

[...]

In the same instance a mysterious gleam of light flashes from the eyes of the Half-Monarch as he noticeably narrows his gaze.

.........

It's unknown if the passage of time had halted or if the passage of this very second had been dragged out due to the silence of the Half-Monarch.

[...]

Adding onto the effects of the Half-Monarch's solemn expression it makes it difficult for Ye Gui Feng to tell if they are angered by him asking for the second option.

There was never a need for the Half-Monarch to provide Ye Gui Feng with options and the person himself knows this.

If the Half-Monarch truly wanted something from Ye Gui Feng he can readily take them by force instead of going about it in such an indirect manner.

That being the case there was probably never any meaning in Ye Gui Feng asking for the second option but he had done it never the less. Perhaps this is merely the act of a frightened dog barking as loudly as they can as a means of showing whatever strength that they may possess.

[The other option is for you to become one of the many Yīshùn (一瞬 Meaning: Moments).]
