Sensing the Absolute Laws he had used to create that specific Dao shadow returning to him Ji Di Tian confirms its destruction while casting a look of disbelief towards Hua Luo.
[You somehow connected your own fate to my Dao shadows through that arm.]
The method Hua Luo had used to do this is unknown to Ji Di Tian. But since he has seen that odd teleportation array that didn't have a precedent he is certain that this is another technique that was created from scratch.
[Do you have any idea what you've done?]
Hearing this question a look of amusement appears on Hua Luo's face.
[Of course. But as a dead man walking what do I care?]
Having bound his fate with Ji Di Tian's Dao shadows Hua Luo has essentially placed the rights over his life onto Ji Di Tian's palm so all that it would take to kill him is just a whim from Ji Di Tian.
But the price Ji Di Tian must pay to kill Hua Luo is the destruction of his Dao shadows.
Such a price isn't something that Ji Di Tian can arbitrary settle on without a second thought and this is especially so when Hua Luo's life is already nearing its end.
[He mentioned that the creation of a single Dao shadow can take many centuries. I don't really know how you're using them in the present era, but they must be important to you if you're keeping them around and had chosen to reveal yourself to us in this manner.]
[...]
Hearing these words an expression of irritation appears on Ji Di Tian's face.
During his prime the creation of a single Dao shadow could have taken 500 years and now that he was in a weakened state he couldn't even begin to imagine the amount of time he would need to replenish his entire army of shadows should they all be destroyed here.
As these Dao shadows are a key part of his eventual plans Ji Di Tian truly didn't want to have to sacrifice any of them in a minor skirmish.
(Unless I can figure out the method he used to connect his fate to all my Dao shadows it would be impossible to kill him so long as even one of them remains.)
Even if Hua Luo is a genius amongst humans he couldn't possibly have developed this technique on his own so the person who had been at the forefront of creating this technique could have only been Li Jiu Tian.
(Under ordinary circumstances enacting this law would have taken a great deal of time. The fact that he was able to do so in a minute means...)
Looking towards Hua Luo's right hand Ji Di Tian narrows his eyes.
This was the hand that had assimilated with Ming Ye Chuan's hand so it was constantly emanating with the powers of life, death, reincarnation, and Absolute Laws.
However, after enacting this law the first three forces of power have weakened drastically to the point that they might as well have been nonexistent.
(I could barely feel any powers of life, death, and reincarnation from him now, so he must've sacrificed them to hasten the enactment process. That teleportation array only had a hint of Absolute Laws mixed into its construction but this technique... Most likely the powers of life, death, and reincarnation is what serves as the cornerstones of its construction while the power of Absolute Laws is only meant to serve as a sort of vessel to contain them.)
This meant that breaking off Hua Luo's connection to his Dao shadows will also require the involvements of these three powers.
But with the amount of Absolute Laws that are used to intricately link these three powers together-
(I don't have the luxury of time.)
The amounts of details involved in the creation of this law could potentially take an entire century's worth of time to comprehend and then to develop a law that can be used to neutralize its effects would take an additional century through a continuous process of trials and errors.
[Make your decision then. Either destroy all your Dao shadows to get rid of this thorn or let this thorn leave its mark.]
Knowing that Ji Di Tian had no choice but to pick one or the other Hua Luo takes a single step forward and approaches the former with eyes of eerie tranquility.
Regardless of what happens to him in this battle he was now bound to leave Ji Di Tian with an everlasting impression.
[...]
Faced with a difficult decision Ji Di Tian reacts to Hua Luo's attack in a defensive manner as he blocks the first blow while thinking of ways to minimize his losses.
As for the thought of perhaps withdrawing from this battle...
That didn't even occur to him for his pride simply won't allow him to even think about the idea of having to escape from a human.
(No matter what I'm bound to lose several Dao shadows in this exchange. The question is how many I will lose and how much time I will be given afterwards to replenish them.)
Accepting his losses as facts Ji Di Tian decides to test the waters by hurling a punch that lands squarely onto Hua Luo's chest while keeping a keen eye out to observe for any changes that might help him to reduce the effects of this odd technique.
