"*Sigh* why all this secrecy?"

Looking towards the direction of those who are outside Die Fei shakes her head with a sigh.

On the opposite side of the bedroom from her and Xiao Ju Hong sleeps the children so the volume of Die Fei's voice hadn't been very high.

"No matter how old boys get they will always want to act like children at times. Or so I was told."

"Surprisingly accurate. And who did you hear it from?"

"Xue Mei. I actually miss talking to her but with the world in its current state heading outside isn't really an option."

Perhaps its because of their reclusive nature but Xiao Ju Hong has noticed that Yao Xue Mei is a rather observant individual.

"True."

Meeting Xiao Ju Hong's red eyes Die Fei felt a sense of tranquility.

While Ye Gui Feng and Yi had their conversation Die Fei had told her life story to Xiao Ju Hong who listened to her tales with kind patience.

"What do you intend to do now then?"

Recalling what Die Fei had told her about her conversation with the demonic self Xiao Ju Hong raises this question.

"I........."

Unable to answer the question time passes slowly with the silence eventually broken by Die Fei's sigh.

"Do I really need to know what it is that I wish to do?"

"The important thing is that you say it and have someone be there to hear it."

"Why is it important for there to be someone to hear it though?"

"So that they can hold you accountable for your words. Truth be told it doesn't have to be me who hears it. It could be anyone."

"Hold me accountable for my words..."

Allowing that to sink in Die Fei smiles in agreement.

"I doubt you could have come up with this on your own. Is it something that you found in your past memories?"

Having this pointed out in such a blunt Xiao Ju Hong raise a light cough that contains a hint of embarrassment.

She isn't the type to make philosophical statements for she never had the time to indulge herself in works of literature but having lived for as long as she did her life experience speaks volume even without words of wisdom.

"I don't know who it was that said those words to me yet. But they said that being able to voice your desires with confidence is the first step towards reaching it."

"Voice my desires with confidence. They-... You make it sound so easy... But then again..."

Remembering what Xiao Ju Hong had told her about what she intends to do after Ye Gui Feng takes over for Jiu Dao as a sort of exchange Die Fei can only sigh in admiration for how firm the former had been in their decision making.

"If only it was that easy..."

"I feel that if you really put your mind to it you'll definitely be able to produce some results."

"What makes you think that? I actually don-"

"Humans are creatures that are influenced by those that they choose to interact with. At least that's what I've come to learn."

Saying these words Die Fei looks to the opposite end of the bedroom towards Xiao Lian who was hugging onto the chubby body of the Phoenix Fish.

"No matter what I can't seem to settle down when I think of what the future has in store for her."

Looking in the same direction Xiao Ju Hong sighs.

"Shouldn't that be natural? You are her mother after all."

"All chicks must eventually take flight on their own and leave the nest. As a parent seeing my child leave and discover the world for herself... I can't help but be concerned but at the same time I'm also looking forward to seeing her return to us. I feel like at some point she had already grown up and started to show a sense of dominance in being able to think for herself. No, maybe she always has, but I just didn't notice it until a day ago where she had been the one to drag you back to us. It really is a strange feeling..."

"A sense of dominance in being able to think for herself. I feel rather envious and childish of myself."

"Doesn't that mean you also feel young?"

"Does that mean you feel old?"

"Maybe. No, that might actually be the case."

"Is that really something that a lady should be admitting to?"

"Vanity, why does that matter? Age is but a number after you've lived as many lifetimes as I have. In fact it's far too easy to forget the number of years you've walked on this earth. Also being the older one in marriage feels nice at times."

"Because you can look down on your husband depending on the situation?"

"Yes, in a sense that also means I'm superior. You should try it yourself at some point."

"I-... *Sigh*"

Somewhat speechless about this reveal Die Fei can only sigh.

"For some reason I always felt like I was the older one if our relationship had been sworn siblings. But now I'm not sure what to think..."

"It's probably because I'm gradually regaining old memories every day, so my personality is also being altered little by little. Well it hardly matters much since I'm still myself no matter what. And having a little sister, that doesn't sound bad. Xiao Lian has always treated you like an aunt."
