[Tch.]
Despite being preoccupied by the lightning bolt Chong Tianzi still managed to catch wind of Hua Luo and the Asura Monarch's conversation.
[...]
Sweeping a gaze across this battlefield Chong Tianzi can see that the practitioners under his command has long vanished without a trace.
Similarly all the other practitioners who sided with the Asura Monarch are also gone leaving a barren feel across the star scape.
If his army was still around Chong Tianzi might still be able to order them to aid him or interfere with Hua Luo and the Asura Monarch's conversation.
Perhaps this might be a sign of this artificial world approaching the ends of its fleeting existence but considering how unfathomable this Absolute Law of the Asura Monarch is Chong Tianzi isn't confident enough to put full faith in his speculations.
(If these two really do decide to team up I can't possibly hope to defeat them on my own. To make matters worse...)
The one Chong Tianzi really felt the need to be wary of is Duo Tian.
The strength of Li Jiu Tian's descendant is unknown but it can't be anything less than peak level Half-Monarch. If he is forced to deal with Hua Luo and the Asura Monarch with Duo Tian added on top of that his demise is all but guaranteed.
[...]
Feeling pressured by the thought of that situation becoming a reality an idea appears in Chong Tianzi's mind.
The enmity between him and Hua Luo wasn't very deep. It was only due to the present circumstances that forces him to butt heads with them.
(It shouldn't matter who he makes an alliance with. Destruction of the Dao Lotus I can give up so long as Shura is defeated. But...)
It felt like it was far too naïve of him to think the enemy of another enemy is a friend that can be trusted when a member of his own faction has already offended them gravely.
He didn't know the full story between Mo Ye Zi and Ji Di Tian but Chong Tianzi can easily imagine the amount of resentment the former possessed against the latter.
A common mortal's anger can force a household to perish.
A practitioner's rage can cause a river of blood to flow.
A demon's wrath can give birth to an ocean of blood.
A sovereign with a cultivation base that's nearly able to rival an Original Monarch can bury an entire region of the stars in madness.
Considering how Mo Ye Zi belongs to the fourth category can any of his fragments be trusted?
(I'd probably only be inviting humiliation upon myself if I were to ask for an alliance.)
Thinking of this along with the imminent threat that's yet to appear Chong Tianzi gives up on the idea of forming an alliance with Hua Luo and hastens his work on suppressing the lightning bolt that he is occupied with.
[...]
Weighting the pros and cons for a brief instance a hint of suspicion appears in the Asura Monarch's eyes and-
[Is this one of your means to buy time?]
With his strength being limited the main objective Hua Luo has in mind is to stall until Duo Tian's arrival.
[I won't deny that. But even if I've admitted to it I'd say my logic is rather sound, won't you agree?]
Having nothing to hide Hua Luo answers readily.
The one Mo Ye Zi resented is Ji Di Tian and his faction but that doesn't necessarily mean the faction lead by the Monarch of the Absolute Heavens is an ally that should be trusted and supported.
In the end Hua Luo as an individual possesses a form of enmity against both factions of the Original Monarchs with the first faction lead by Ji Di Tian bearing the brunt of his hatred while the second faction is something that he is obligated to go against due to old promises.
[If Di Tian appears, regardless of him being artificial or not neither of us can hope to stand against him. Even if we were to work together it would still be a trial.]
[*Sigh*]
Hearing these words the Asura Monarch sighs.
From the viewpoint of the ten Original Monarchs the Asura Monarch ranks as second in the power pyramid with the monarchs of both the Absolute Heavens and Absolute End tied for first.
This was the power pyramid during the monarchs' prime so it can't really be taken with faith in recent times but it was never the less something for the Asura Monarch to go off on.
[The Eternal...]
With an expression of thought the Asura Monarch looks to the courtyard island that rests beneath the Nether Realm Warship.
His gaze can seemingly pierce all that blocks his eyes as he locks onto the objective he had come here for.
Within the bedroom of the courtyard is a series of magic arrays meant for defense with three people sitting at its core.
Two young women and one girl who looks less than 15.
Ignoring the two young women and directing his focus on the girl alone the Asura Monarch's gaze digs deeper and sees that within her soul floats a single scroll painting.
[...]
The content of the scroll painting causes even the Asura Monarch to narrow his eyes in great scrutiny.
On the surface it was nothing more than a slab of black ink seemingly only there to fill the entirety of the scroll's surface without a hint of artistic sense.
And yet there was no doubt in the Asura Monarch's eyes that this scroll contains something profound.
(Although the Eternal doesn't exist. This scroll probably has a trace of its essence.)
