(...Attempting to block off this flame using the first wall is far too inefficient.)

As the overwhelming heat of Ji Di Tian's black flame gradually melts the crystal skin that is covering the first wall the demonic self realizes that attempting to maintain this defensive layer will only be a waste of energy for the amount of time he can buy with the expenditure of his strength just wasn't worth it.

(It's like trying to put out a fire using oil.)

Fully aware of how the flame is only becoming stronger with each passing second in which it is devouring the energy that is supporting the stability of the first wall the demonic self quickly reaches the conclusion that instead of doing everything that he can to fend off this flame using the first wall it would be much better to conserve some strength and aid in the final layers of their defensive efforts.

[*Sigh*]

Deciding upon this course of action the demonic self reluctantly shakes his head with a sigh and ceases the rotation of his cultivation base causing the pale purple flames that shrouds his ghostly body to be extinguished.

Taking a few steps back the demonic self's body is revealed to be a lot fainter than it was initially as a clear sign of him having expended a great deal of strength.

Without saying anything else the demonic self sits down and crosses his legs together to meditate and recuperate some of his lost strength.

[Amongst the seven, the final two are indeed the most important.]

Coming to the same conclusion as the demonic self Hua Luo mutters these words beneath his breath.

[...]

Hearing these words Ye Gui Feng gives a light nod as he begins to prepare himself to take charge of the third wall and not a moment too soon-

*Kakakakakakakaka!!!* more cracks form on the surface of the demonic wall whose crystal skin has deformed to the point in which its physical state has become akin to a layer of candle wax.

[...]

Forming a single-handed incantation gesture ashen white mist of immortal Qi overflows from Hua Luo's body and are poured onto the second wall before he chooses to take a step back and focus on gathering the powers of reincarnation and Absolute Laws to his right hand.

With the final walls of reincarnation and Absolute Laws being the deciding factor of their survival Hua Luo cannot possibly expend too much energy on maintaining the immortal wall. At best he can only hope to give Ye Gui Feng a bit of time to prepare himself.

And having realized just how bleak their actual chances of survival are Hua Luo has already steeled his resolve to sacrifice Ming Ye Chuan's hand as a means of acquiring a bit more time during their final moments.

[...]

Drawing in a breath of air Ye Gui Feng rotates his cultivation base as spirit energy exudes from his ghostly body and obscures the entirety of his figure away from sight.

*BOOM!!!!!* in the next instance the first wall collapses under the heat of the black flames and without a second to waste the initial blast along with the black flames readily pours themselves onto the second wall!

*Kakakakakakakakakakak!!!* under the dark flame's ever-increasing heat the second wall immediately begins to cave inwards as a spider web patterned crack spreads from its center!

As if it was a living entity with its own conscience the dark flames exploit this thin opening as they seethe pass the second wall and touches upon the third!

(*Sigh* passively defending... Is this truly the only option available to us?)

Eyeing the second wall that has almost been completely devoured by the black flames Ye Gui Feng inwardly sighs.

How can he not tell that all this is merely a means to delay the inevitable and all they are doing is trying to drag this situation out for as long as possible?

Both Hua Luo and Yi seems to hold absolute faith in the arrival of his highness Duo Tian, so it makes logical sense for them to think that with each second delayed the higher their odds of survival becomes.

But in reality just how much did this chance at survival go up by with each second that passes?

Regardless of the reason the simple idea of putting their fate in the hands of an outsider just doesn't sit well with Ye Gui Feng.

It's not because he was arrogant or anything similar to that line of thinking.

Rather-

(I really... Really hate how weak I am.)

Time and time again Ye Gui Feng has experienced the meaning of the saying that there will always be a greater heaven looming over one's head upon reaching the supposed "summit."

(What kind of husband am I to my wife? What kind of father am I to my daughter? Just what kind of man am I to my family if I am unable to protect them with my own two hands?)

How long must this journey go on for until he finally reaches the final summit in which there won't be another person or thing capable of threatening those who are important to him?

[...If it is at all possible I really do not wish to rely on outside help to resolve this ordeal.]

Muttering these words Ye Gui Feng takes a single step forward and teleports to appear behind the third wall and without hesitation he presses his hand onto its surface.

[...?]

[...]

A feel of odd premonition appears in Yi and Hua Luo's heart upon hearing the words said by Ye Gui Feng.

As a resonance forms between Ye Gui Feng and the third wall the former's body is transformed into a dense bundle of spirit energy.

[You-]

[Taking your own course of action are you?]

Realizing Ye Gui Feng's intentions quickly both Yi and Hua Luo puts on a conflicted expression.

*...!!!* with brightness that rivals the sun azure radiance erupts from the third wall and as Ye Gui Feng takes three steps forward his body that has become a concentration of spirit energy merges perfectly with the second wall!
