[The one to defeat me, the one to overcome this trial that is directed at all lifeforms shall be the one to take over my throne and take on the responsibilities of exacting my vengeance upon you, a feat that I am unworthy of doing nor am capable of doing.]

[...]

A look of utter surprise appears on Ji Di Tian's face upon hearing the words that the Asura Monarch has said.

(From the very beginning of the war declaration I've been representing my aunt. I'm generally not the sort to take back the words that I've already said. So should I choose to use my Absolute Laws now I would be making a hypocrite of myself by challenging someone that I've already deemed to be unworthy of my time.)

These are the words said by Duo Tian and though the Asura Monarch isn't able to relate to them directly they resonated with him in an odd way.

Even if it was for the sake of his fallen legion the Asura Monarch, as a member of the ten Original Monarchs that are both the creators and enemies of the myriad lifeforms didn't have any rights to challenge Ji Di Tian for revenge.

The entirety of that matter stems from the fact that Ji Di Tian had found their creations to be capable of endangering him and his circle.

Looking at the matter from Ji Di Tian's perspective his reasonings are sound for there was nothing wrong with a person wanting to eliminate something that is capable of endangering them and those around them.

At the time the Asura Monarch may have fought against Ji Di Tian but that didn't mean he stood on the side of the myriad lifeforms as a whole. All he did then was act to defend his own circle.

Had it been those outside of his circle that were targeted by Ji Di Tian the Asura Monarch wouldn't have bothered to make any moves to help and would have simply watched all of it unfold because he didn't hold any responsibilities to those outside of his circle.

(My goal from beginning to end was to ensure our group's survival. If I told you to abandon your legion because they will eventually pose a threat to our existence would you have done so without hesitation? If you were forced to choose between them and us which side would you have picked? Should you choose to stay neutral you would have cut yourself off from both sides.)

Recalling Ji Di Tian's question on which side he would have picked when forced to choose the Asura Monarch can only raise a sigh in his heart for-

(In the end there can only be two sides in this world, the creators and the created...)

This is the conclusion that he as a member of the ten Original Monarchs has arrived at.

Viewing the matter as a member of the created didn't exist for he is eternally one of the creators and can never be a part of the created.

Having arrived at his conclusion the Asura Monarch knew that a stance of neutrality didn't truly exist.

At one point or another the created will eventually turn their blades against him for he was their creator, their final remaining enemy should the previous nine be eliminated.

Differences in ideals, differences in race, differences in the way of one's perspectives of the world is all that it takes for living creatures to turn against the other.

Hence, the Asura Monarch has taken on the stance of being an observer and a trial that is meant to be challenged.

Should the created truly hope to rebel against their creators then he wishes to be the first to perish so that he may at least see that the created will have a chance to defeat their creators.

[...Ic... This is simply far too idiotic.]

Unable to wrap his head around the Asura Monarch's thoughts Ji Di Tian can only call it idiotic and in some ways the Asura Monarch had to agree with him.

Perishing at the hands of those that he had been involved in the creation of so that he may see them having a chance at overcoming their creators is a rather-

(Is this... How a parent would feel when sending their children off?)

As this thought crosses the Asura Monarch's mind he can't help but look briefly at Ye Gui Feng.

His arrival before this man and his family was the sake of taking their daughter away so that he may recover more of his strength.

(I see... What I've done can only be seen as one of the ultimate forms of cruelty.)

Raising his right hand the Asura Monarch makes a grasping gesture and this instantly causes the scattered remnants of his power over lightning to gather.

[*Sigh*]

Heaving a sigh of exhaustion the Asura Monarch tosses the gathered remnants of his power over lightning to Ye Gui Feng.

[...?]

Towards the Asura Monarch's sudden gift Ye Gui Feng looks to them with a look of surprise.

[I no longer have a need for it and though it may not be considered much think of it as my apology for intruding upon you and your family's life.]

Holding the Asura Monarch's apology in his hand Ye Gui Feng looks to them for a while before accepting the item in question with a light bow.
