Not all the Moments chose to target Ye Gui Feng as a small fraction of them chose to aim for Xuan Nuo.
Although the thought of joining the others to kill Ye Gui Feng had crossed their minds the urge to kill a direct subordinate of an Original Monarch overwhelms the first thought for each of them are individuals who bear a personal grudge against the rulers of old in some way.
Towards the hostility of these odd enemies Xuan Nuo doesn't show a hint of mercy as he reduces their numbers at a gradual rate.
But the act of striking these enemies down didn't do anything to alleviate the uneasy feeling in Xuan Nuo's heart.
If anything-
(Just what is he planning?)
It only serves to raise it as Xuan Nuo glances in the direction of the Half-Monarch while blocking an attack and countering.
From the interaction of Ye Gui Feng and the Half-Monarch Xuan Nuo understood that the goal of the latter is to walk to the very end of stone road that is looming over their heads at this time.
Whether or not this will allow them to step into the Eternal realm of cultivation is unknown. But in Xuan Nuo's mind the likelihood of it being true is doubtful for he truly doesn't believe this matter to be as simple as they might seem on the surface.
Considering how powerful and ancient the Half-Monarch is it would be strange for him to hold no doubts on the matter and readily believe in his instincts. If they were truly that foolish then they would have cultivated for nothing.
At the same time there is the ancient will that had vanished a moment ago.
The source of it seems to have come from a distant region of the outer heavens and the fact that this will bears some resemblance to the original Half-Monarch is the source of Xuan Nuo's unease.
The thought of the original Half-Monarch having revived successfully when their fragments are roaming about freely seems preposterous, but it does open up the possibility of there being another individual hiding behind the curtains of this entire event that is orchestrated by the Half-Monarch to find a fragment that is worthy of competing against him on his journey to the far ends of the stone road.
The possibility of this hidden individual being the earliest person to walk on the stone road is high and this would mean that they are another fragment of the original Half-Monarch.
The plans of this individual are an unknown but if they are able to discreetly manipulate the fragments of the original Half-Monarch as their puppets to push their goals forward it would be difficult to imagine how powerful their cultivation base is.
And there's also no way to know if the Half-Monarch himself is one of the many puppets that this individual is indirectly controlling but the chances of this individual being even stronger than the Half-Monarch in front of Xuan Nuo is just as likely for they must have lived for an untold number of years that stretches to a past that is beyond the recognition of the lifeforms in this era.
The neutral attitude displayed by the Half-Monarch under these circumstances seems natural in the grand scheme of them having lordship over the Moments but the way they are smiling upon the sight before them made Xuan Nuo feel as if he is standing upon the inescapable web of a sadistic spider that's waiting for the perfect moment to devour its prey after having toyed with them to their heart's content.
The position held by Xuan Nuo, Ye Gui Feng, and the numerous Moments are akin to the disposable pieces of a chess game, the pawns.
They hold no control over the flow of the situation as the only individuals with the authority to do so are the Half-Monarch and the faceless individual that is behind the curtains.
The entirety of this is set up in a way that is similar to two players of a chess game trying to predict the other's movement while attempting to wrestle the flow of the game in their favor using the small openings in the other's advancements to their advantage.
The irritating thought of being used to kill off the Moments that are a waste to the Half-Monarch's plan aside this situation is meant to be a process of elimination, only the worthy may be promoted to becoming a center piece of the game.
However, was that all there is to it?
Sacrifices must be made to allow monumental progression.
Words such as this are said often and for those who have lived for eons they couldn't possibly be foreign to it.
Should this be a situation that goes hand and hand with such words just what kind of progression will be triggered with the death of numerous Moments as sacrificial tribute?

Standing upon the head of the human like vessel Ye Gui Feng looks to the young man with narrowed eyes.
It's difficult to describe this feeling of hatred that is welling up in Ye Gui Feng's heart.
But it is indeed similar to the way that the young man had described it, the instinctive reaction that a person would have when looking upon a disgusting insect.
[The cultivation method that you use... Is it the Blood God Domain?]
[...]
Upon hearing Ye Gui Feng's guess a look of interest appears on the young man's face as he smiles lightly.
[Blood God Domain? Ah... That was what the Yao family called it wasn't it?]
The eyes of the young man flashes with a light of reminiscence almost as if he is looking back to a memory that occurred many, many eons ago.
However, this light didn't last for long as it is quickly replaced by a cold gleam of cruelty.
In the world of this young man the Yao family is a clan of cultivators that was considered by many to hold an unshakable position of power but the entirety of their glory was wiped away overnight by a single practitioner of unknown origins.
[...]
Recalling the night in which he had destroyed the entirety of the Yao family without leaving a single trace of their existence behind the young man's smile becomes colder than ever.
[...]
The history between this young man and the Yao family of his world is unknown to Ye Gui Feng but judging by the light in their eyes it doesn't seem to be a harmonious relationship.
[You bringing the Yao family up means that they exist in this world as well don't they? I wonder if there are those who cultivate the Evil Blood Domain amongst their numbers. Perhaps I can use them to furt-]
Without giving the young man the time to finish his sentence Ye Gui Feng takes a single step forward and slashes with the sword in his hand.
*Klang!* despite how fast Ye Gui Feng had been the young man's expression remains the same as the phantom figure behind him raises its right claw and blocks off the assault.
[To be enraged so easily by my words how immature of you. But does this mean that someone dear to you cultivates in that method?]
A strange glow comes from the young man's eyes when asking this question but towards it Ye Gui Feng replies with a cold snort as he raises his left hand to his chest.
[Hm?]
Held on the tip of Ye Gui Feng's finger is a sphere of golden radiance and in the next instance blades that take the form of numerous ribbons burst outwards!
With how close the young man had been to Ye Gui Feng when this attack had been released it was impossible to avoid it and within the blink of an eye the ribbon like blades readily cut him into a thousand pieces!
