This is a special curse that Yi had acquired during his time in the Hell River Sect and the nature of it is similar to a timed bomb that will go off when a person least expects it.

Without possessing the special means that are designed specifically to detect and remove this curse Yi is confident enough to claim that there is not a single person capable of detecting his and Ye Gui Feng's handiwork.
