*...!* as soon as Ji Di Tian's fist connects a tremor runs through Hua Luo's body.

Simultaneously one of the Dao shadows that stood in the distance gives off a similar reaction and a split second later its body detonates from within!

Observing for any changes throughout the flow of this occurrence Ji Di Tian had concentrated the power of his divine sense into his eyes causing it to give off a faint glow.

(These threads...)

Through his enhanced vision he sees numerous threads of unknown energy connecting Hua Luo to the Dao shadows behind him.

(I sense karmic essence from these threads but compared to Zhu Xian this air seems artificial...)

Clenching his left fist with the intent to probe for the secrets hidden in these threads Ji Di Tian releases a second strike and focusing his sight he sees one of these threads releasing a vibrant shine just as his attack landed on Hua Luo.

*...!* as this flash reaches its peak the thread vanishes in the next instance symbolizing the severance of the connection that is shared between Hua Luo and the third Dao shadow that is destroyed.

(It's very unlike him to leave loose ends untied. Did he perhaps not have enough time to refine this technique? In that case...)

Realizing that there might just be a way to break off Hua Luo's connection with his Dao shadows without having to develop a specialized law to counter what Li Jiu Tian had created Ji Di Tian draws his fist back in preparation to launch another attack.

(If he's this quick about noticing changes then these Dao shadows must truly be something of concern to him.)

Aware of Ji Di Tian's intentions Hua Luo knew better than to waste time as he takes five steps back to avoid the next attack while putting a bit of distance between him and the former.

Just as Ji Di Tian had thought this technique created by Li Jiu Tian was never perfected due to the shortage of time so before the former can figure out its underlying flaws Hua Luo needed to get a clean hit in.

(It doesn't really feel all too appropriate to intervene in this but-)

Turning his eyes away from Ji Di Tian and Hua Luo's confrontation the Asura Monarch looks to the Dao shadows before taking one step forward to appear directly in front of one.

(That doesn't mean I'm willing to just sit around.)

*...!!!* before the Dao shadow can react to his abrupt arrival the Asura Monarch lunges his right hand towards it and impales its chest to destroy its beating heart!

As soon as the Asura Monarch had made his move a quarter of the Dao shadows simultaneously turned their attention towards him while another quarter set their sights upon Ye Gui Feng.

As for the remaining Dao shadows they turned their attention towards Chong Tianzi and Cang Xue.

Faced with this abrupt development Ye Gui Feng felt a numbing itch on his right scalp but just as he is about to perform a single-handed incantation gesture to defend himself-

[Hm?]

*Boom!!!!!* almost as soon as a group of Dao shadows had appeared a few meters away from him the dark rift behind Ye Gui Feng releases an air shattering blast that instantly puts a stop to their advancement.

Judging by the expression of shock that are on the faces of the Dao shadows they were completely caught off guard to find themselves thrown out of the dimensional boundaries while traversing through its waters.

*...!!!* as these Dao shadows are about to recover from their state of shock a droning sound emanates from within the dark rift causing their body to freeze!

[...]

Although Ye Gui Feng didn't know what is causing this he wasn't going to let this opportunity slide as he chooses to go on the offensive by performing a single-handed incantation gesture and unleashes a sea of flames to incinerate the Dao shadows in a single attack!

(Compared to the one we were fighting these Dao shadows don't seem to possess anywhere near as strong of a physical body... Was the one that fought us a special case?)

Noticing this Ye Gui Feng can't help but frown as he questions why Ji Di Tian places so much concern towards the Dao shadows' survival.

If someone of his level was able to kill these Dao shadows with such ease most of their numbers wouldn't amount to anything in a real battle between monarchs.

(...Did he have a different plan for them?)

Although he had his questions Ye Gui Feng chooses not to dwell upon them.

Regardless of what Ji Di Tian has planned for his Dao shadows thinning their numbers aligned with his intentions to make the former bleed in pain.

[* **** **.]

Muttering a complex chant Ji Di Tian performs a single-handed incantation gesture and points to Hua Luo.

[...]

Sensing the power of Ji Di Tian's Absolute Law targeting his body Hua Luo immediately stimulates the essences of Ming Ye Chuan's Absolute Laws to defend himself.

(I need a better opening but...)

The chances of Ji Di Tian revealing such an opening is low and even if he did Hua Luo could very well end up throwing himself into a trap.

The best way to deal with the possibilities of a trap would be to create the opening himself.

[Do you not feel concerned about the thinning of your own protective charms?]

Knowing that the Asura Monarch has begun to kill off his Dao shadows Ji Di Tian truly wished to just ignore Hua Luo and deal with the former first. However, the latter clearly didn't have any intentions to let him go.

As Ye Gui Feng had speculated the Dao shadow that fought Hua Luo and the others was indeed a special case that was nurtured by Ji Di Tian with a greater sense of attention to detail.

Such special cases are naturally a rarity with Ji Di Tian having only a handful of them in his possession so losing just one of them is considered more than enough to make him ache.

[I'm satisfied with just the thought of you bleeding in pain from your losses and-]

A determined gleam comes from Hua Luo's eyes as he makes his approach while forcefully pushing the power of his cultivation base into his right arm.

[I don't need that many protective charms to begin with.]

Noticing the amount of power that is building up in Hua Luo's right arm Ji Di Tian instantly realized the intentions of his opponent but just as the thought of retreating had crossed his mind-
