By the time the force behind the lightning blast has managed to reach the courtyard most of its strength has already been lost and only serves to give the island a slight push.

[...]

Shifting his eyes to the right slightly Hua Luo sees the figure of a young man with crimson hair that is akin to bright red flames.

[Ji Di Tian...]

This figure dressed in a dark set of robes with their sleeves stitched with the pattern of crane feathers in scarlet threads is none other than the Monarch of the Absolute End and held in his right hand is a black flute made from bamboo.

Tied to the tip of the flute is a decorative tassel with a metal medallion connecting the second portion of its body.

The design of this medallion looks to be the face of a demon and should a practitioner who has yet to reach the realm of a Half-Monarch look upon it they would feel as if their very soul is being glared upon by a monster's gaze inducing them with emotions of insanity.

This ancient flute and the demonic medallion that accompanies it are Ji Di Tian's signature treasures.

[****!]

From the maws of the lightning beast the word of an extinct tongue erupts with unyielding determination.

[...]

Despite having been dragged out of his cover Ji Di Tian maintains his composure as he looks calmly at the Asura Monarch whose body is contained in the ten-tailed lightning fox's head.

[Is this what the humans would call a joke? You wish to challenge me in your current state?]

With a tone that thought nothing of possible defeat Ji Di Tian raises this question to the Asura Monarch with contempt.

The word that has just been uttered by the Asura Monarch comes from a language that all the Original Monarchs shared.

They may not know the name of this language, but it was the tongue they had been born with and used to communicate with one another since time immemorial.

****, this word is a ceremonial word that is used to issue a challenge from one individual to another with both sides placing everything they possess at stake.

The winner will have the rights to lay claims to the loser's everything ranging from materialistic possessions to even their life.

That being the case one can imagine how heavy the act of issuing a challenge with this word is.

[Do you not dare to accept?]

Even at his prime the Asura Monarch's strength was never as great as Ji Di Tian's and having just escaped from the cubic prison much of the Asura Monarch's strength has already been depleted.

Under these circumstances it would make far more sense to retreat than to fight.

(What are you planning?)

As questions form in Ji Di Tian's heart feelings of suspicion follows.

Even if it was his pride that made it impossible for him to back down what the Asura Monarch had done by issuing this challenge is very odd.

Rather than to surrender and show obedience those with a great deal of pride but are overcome by despair upon the realization of them being less than ants before a greater power would generally choose to cast everything aside and die with their heads held high.

But there wasn't a hint of despair to be sensed in the Asura Monarch's voice.

And why is that?

Defeat is practically guaranteed so why bother to act like a moth that is attracted to flames and readily throw themselves into the blaze?

Wouldn't it be wiser to leave an option to fall back on instead of wagering everything in a single bet that shows no promise?

All these reasons combined made it clear to Ji Di Tian that the Asura Monarch is issuing his challenge with a scheme in mind.

[Even if the result is defeat, challenging you now is so that I can have the courage to challenge you again in the future.]

[In the future?]

Hearing these words Ji Di Tian narrows his eyes making his slitted pupils more evident.

[Did I say that I would allow you to continue living after this? Once I've ended you here the Dao Lotus will be next. I'll personally ensure that no such lotus will ever appear in this plane of heaven and earth in the future.]

As tension boils Chong Tianzi chooses to retreat a few meters back. No matter what he has no intention to get involved with Ji Di Tian and the Asura Monarch's exchange; rather he very much wanted to see Ji Di Tian wounded from this exchange to alleviate the more difficult aspects of his future plans.

[...]

Sensing the tension that is enough to suffocate an ordinary person Hua Luo knew that these three monarchs all had their individual plans formed.

(War is bound to break out between the monarchs in the future...)

Perhaps that war will take place a hundred, a thousand, or even a billion years away from this day but regardless of how long it takes it is a war that is inevitably meant to occur once all sides has finished making their preparations.

[...]

As the lightning fox takes a single step forward it breaks into a high speed charge towards Ji Di Tian who-

[...]

Silently accepts the Asura Monarch's challenge and calmly raises the ancient flute to his lips.

Within the blink of an eye the body of the lightning fox is but a few hundred meters away from Ji Di Tian while possessing more than enough momentum in its charge to pulverize numerous planets into pieces of space debris!

Just as it would seem like the final amount of distance is about to be breached however-

*Crackle! Crackle! Crackle! Crackle! Crackle! Crackle!* amidst the sound of crackling lightning is the melodic tune of Ji Di Tian's flute being played with practiced techniques and as the melody increases in volume spatial distortions appear and surrounds the Absolute Monarch!

In less than the time it would take for sparks to fly the spatial distortions created from Ji Di Tian's flute gathers before him and fills the final amount of distance that separates him from the lightning fox.

*...!!!!!!!!!!!* in the next instance a force capable of shattering stars and planets alike smashes onto the wall of spatial distortions!

To Ji Di Tian who had been the lightning fox's target his expression of composure remains unchanging while the Asura Monarch felt as if he had crashed onto a slab of malleable clay.

*...!* without giving the Asura Monarch enough time to absorb the situation fully the demonic medallion that is hanging from Ji Di Tian's flute releases a blood red shine from its eyes.
