A colossal pit has been opened within the Second Hell's domain and floating within this pit is a miniature sun that gives off a scorching wave of heat.

Surrounding this pit and expanding outwards is a series of spires that looked like stakes impaled into the earth.

If one can get a bird's eye view of the area they would realize that these towering spires are arranged into a star shaped formation around the giant pit.

The purpose of this-

[Quite a bit of effort is put into arranging this magic array.]

Holding a purple slip of jade in his hand Yi looks to the Xia family's establishment here in the Second Hell with calm eyes while waiting for the jade to finish its recording of this land.

The moment the jade slip ceases to give off a dull glow Yi sends the images that he has recorded over to the receiving end.

[...]

Giving the person on the other end of the jade slip ten seconds to absorb the information Yi sends out-

[What were my instructions from however many years ago it's been?]

As the jade slip gives off a slight tremor Yi looks down on it to see-

[Apologies for our negligence.]

[I've no need for an apology. What I want are answers.]

[I shall have the answers that you seek. Please give me a bit of time.]

Dropping the jade slip into his storage space along with the Seven Echoes Yi begins to analyze the magic array in detail.

The sheer scale of this magic array along with the miniature sun makes it difficult for all this to have been set up within the span of a day and judging by how thorough the Xia family is in making living accommodations outside of these towering spires-

[They've decided to settle down here have they?]

Towards the Xia family's boldness Yi can't help but laugh in mockery.

The Four Great Hells may have been considered a sacred ground by the Hell River Sect but that doesn't mean that there were many who had wished to inhabit this land as a permanent home during the time in which it had been whole.

[Now then...]

Muttering a chant in a soft volume Yi leans his body forward as he begins to break down into a cluster of dark mist.

Using this form he flies over the skies of the Xia family's establishment while blending himself in with the swarm of roaming ghosts.

[Hmm the image that I have of an aloof individual is generally someone in the junior generation.]

Without having enough information on hand it becomes difficult to search for a Xia family clansmen to replace but having been young in the distant past at one point Yi is rather certain that he'll be able to find what he is looking for in a member of the Xia family's junior generation.

.........

Contrary to Yi who had been rather unhesitant in stepping into the Xia family's establishment using his unique method Ye Gui Feng is much more cautious in his approach as the copy formed of his spirit sense places an inch of its foot into the Spirit Crane Sect's outer perimeter.

[...]

Detecting no changes in the Spirit Crane Sect's magic array Ye Gui Feng drops his preparations to issue a detonation command before having his copy proceed further into the establishment.

(Now then... I need to find someone that I can act as.)

Taking advantage of his copy's disguise as one of the many roaming ghosts Ye Gui Feng has it loom over two Spirit Crane Sect disciples who are in the middle of a conversation with one another.

"...Think we'll continue to stay here?"

"Beats me. We've been here for well over a year now if I recall..."

Judging by the somewhat displeased tone used by this disciple of the Spirit Crane Sect he doesn't seem to take the idea of spending life here in the Four Great Hells to be pleasant.

"I'll be honest at first I wasn't all too keen about cultivating amongst ghosts but..."

"Not like we can say anything about it. It's the sect master and the ancestor who makes the final decisions. A word of advice to you as a senior disciple, try not to talk about this topic with anyone else. Besides this isn't that bad of a place once you get used to these ghosts."

Moving away from these two Ye Gui Feng has the copy enter a well-decorated courtyard and upon entering the living room of the main residence-

"The sixth patriarch would like to know when the fourth elder will be out of his seclusion."

(Hm?)

Most of the individuals out on the streets are dressed in the same uniform and those who didn't tend to walk with their heads held low when they are moving pass those that are.

(Housekeepers or servants maybe?)

The fact that these two aren't dressed in the uniforms of the Spirit Crane Sect could very well mean that they are no more than subordinates.

"I'm afraid I've no knowledge of this. But since the elder has been in seclusion for almost a year after that incident it shouldn't be long now."

"Finally some progress then?"

"Hopefully."

"Alright I'll head back to report then."

(Fourth elder was it?)

Since this person hasn't been out of seclusion for a year it meant they had limited social interactions with others and having been out of the loops for so long they could naturally ask someone else to fill them in on what has happened during their absence.

(...)

Thinking of this Ye Gui Feng has his copy proceed further into the residence.
