AMELIAS POV
Kamryn and I were walking in the store and she was holding my hand. She was adorable.
"Okay baby you want to look at paint colors?" I asked.
"Yes!" She smiled.
"Okay, so did you want blue?" I asked.
"What about that one?" She said and pointed to a lavender color.
"I like that one," I said.
"Me too," she said.
"Do you want to keep looking or?" I chuckled.
"No I like that one," she said.
"Okay," I said, "sounds good to me." I put the paint in the shopping cart and we continued walking around the store.
"Amelia?" Kamryn said.
"Yeah?" I said.
"Can we get that?" She asked and pointed to a big bean bag chair.
"I mean why not," I chuckled.
"Really?" She said, the excitement in her eyes was adorable.
"If you really want it," I said, "of course."
"Thank you!" She smiled. I put one in the cart.
"Do you want any pictures for your room?" I asked.
"I don't know," she said, "I haven't decorated a room before."
"Me either, were both new at this," I smiled. She grabbed my hand again as I pushed the cart. We shopped for a little while and got paint brushes, pictures, a lamp, and rug. I put everything in the car and then I buckled her in the backseat. I was definitely going to need help painting her room, and I wasn't going to ask Owen because I didn't want it to be awkward because of the kiss, or weird for Kamryn, so I figured maybe I should ask Meredith.
"So Kamryn how would you feel is Meredith and her kids came over this afternoon?" I said.
"Are her kids nice?" She asked shyly.
"The nicest you'll ever meet," I said, "Zola is 8, Bailey is your age, 5, and Ellis is 3."
"Okay," she nodded.
"So it's okay?" I said.
"Yeah," she said. I drove home and parked in the parking lot and then grabbed the shopping bags and got in the elevator with her. We walked down the hall and I unlocked the door and she took the bag from me and ran down to her room. She was such a precious little girl. I followed her and we set up everything in her room and she smiled.
"Thank you!" She smiled and hugged me.
"You're welcome," I said, "you deserve it." I kissed her head and she sat in my lap. I grabbed my phone and took a cute selfie of us.
"Smile with your new room," I chuckled and took a picture of her sitting on her bed.
"I wanna see," she said and looked at my phone. I showed her the picture and she smiled. I sent the picture to Owen and sent "she loves it, thank you for your help!" A few minutes later he texted back.
"No problem, she looks so happy, so glad she likes it," he sent.
"Me too, she adores it," I sent.
"Hey do you think we could talk sometime today?" He sent, shit, it was totally about the kiss.
"Sure," I said, "when?"
"I could drop by after dinner," he said.
"Okay," I sent.
-
Meredith, Zola, Bailey, Ellis and Maggie were coming over, and I somehow convinced Meredith and Maggie to help me paint Kamryn's room. My doorbell rang and Kamryn looked up at me. She was snuggled into me as we were watching TV together.
"They're here," I smiled. I got up and Kamryn stayed on the couch while I opened the door.
"Is she here?" Zola asked cutely.
"She is," I smiled, "she might be a little shy okay?" She nodded and ran over to the couch and Bailey and Ellis followed after them. I walked over and the four of them were sitting on the couch.
"I'm Zola," Zola smiled, "this is Bailey, hes 5, you're 5 too right? And this is ellis, she's three."
"Hi," Kamryn said shyly, "I'm 5 too."
"We brought toys," Bailey said. Kamryn smiled and I was glad she liked them.
"So were painting?" Maggie said.
"Well I didn't want to ask Owen so yes," I chuckled.
"Painting is fun," Meredith said, "reminds me of the time you tried to take my wall out."
"Shut up," I chuckled.
"Okay are you guys good here?" Meredith smiled as the kids were playing in the living room.
"Yes!" The kids said.
"Alright we'll be in Kamryn's room okay?" Meredith said. The kids nodded and we walked down the hall and I opened the door.
"Oh my gosh it's adorable!" Maggie smiled, "you did all this?"
"Owen helped me," I said.
"So you and Owen?" Meredith said.
"He wants to talk today," I said, "what does that mean?"
"You two are so complicated and confusing," Maggie laughed.
"I feel like I made it awkward," I sighed.
"You definitely didn't," Meredith said, "he likes you a lot."
"I can't start something, I mean I just got Kamryn she needs to adjust here," I said.
"Does she like it here with you?" Maggie asked.
"Yeah," I said, "I think she does, which reminds me, how do I get school transfer forms?"
"Call her old school and get them to email you her information and then forward it to the new school," Meredith said.
"Thanks," I said.
"You should probably call the social worker about that too," Meredith said.
"Yeah I will," I said. We finished painting the room and it was so cute.
"She's going to love it, thank you!" I smiled and hugged them both.
"Of course," they smiled.
"Leave the door open so it doesn't smell like paint in here all night, and don't let her sleep in here until the small goes away," Meredith said.
"Okay," I nodded, "thanks. Do you guys want to stay for dinner? Order pizza?"
"Sure," Maggie said.
"Yeah, I'm sure the kids would love that," Meredith said.
"They seem to be getting along," I smiled.
"Yeah," Meredith smiled at me as we walked down the hall. We got to the living room and the kids were playing with Bailey's trucks, Zola's dolls, and a few other things. I was so happy Kamryn wasn't being super shy around them and was talking.
"Hey guys so I have an idea," I said as I sat down next to Zola, "what if we all stayed for pizza?"
"Yay!" The kids said and then went back to playing with their toys. I kissed her head and walked into the kitchen with Maggie and Meredith.
"Mommy!" Ellis said and ran over to Meredith and she picked her up. Maggie and Meredith were distracted with the kids when the doorbell rang. I opened the door and it was Owen.
"Hey," I said and closed the door behind me so we were out in the hall.
"You throwing a party in there?" He joked.
"Just maggie, Meredith, and the kids. We painted Kamryn's room," I said.
"Oh cool what color?" He asked.
"Lavender," I smiled, "it's so cute. You could come see if you want?"
"After I talk to you about something okay?" He said. I could feel my chest tighten up and I got so nervous.
"Okay," I said.
"So the other day," he chuckled.
"Uh yeah," I felt myself getting so nervous as I was looking at him. He moved closer to me and I was basically up against the door and our lips were centimeters apart.
"I like you," he said.
"I like you too," I said, "but I-" He didn't let me finish as his lips met mine. Everything I was going to say left my mind as we started making out. I wrapped my arms around his neck and he grabbed my waist.
"You were saying?" He chuckled.
"I, I wasn't," I chuckled as I kissed him again. I heard my front door opened.
"Amelia what kinda of pizza do you - oh my gosh sorry!" Maggie said. I chuckled and looked at her as I let go of Owen.
"It's okay," I chuckled, "Um whatever the kids want is fine with me."
"Owen should stay for pizza," Maggie said.
"Uh, I mean you don't have to if you don't want to," I said.
"I'll stay," Owen said.
"Okay," I said. He smiled at me and I smiled back. We walked inside and I turned to him.
"Do you want to see Kamryn's room?" I asked.
"Yeah," he said.
"Kamryn," I said. She turned her head and smiled.
"Do you want to show Owen your room? And see how we painted it?" I asked.
"Yes!" She smiled.
"I want to come too!" Zola said.
"Okay lets go," I chuckled. Owen smiled at me and we walked down the hall as Kamryn and Zola were in front of us. Kamryn opened the door and ran inside.
"I love it!" She smiled and ran over and hugged my leg. I picked her up and smiled.
"Thank you," she said as she snuggled into me.
"You're welcome," I said, "go thank Maggie and Meredith too okay?"
"Okay!" She said.
"This is so cute Auntie Amelia," Zola said.
"Owen helped too," I said and smiled at him. Kamryn ran off with Zola to go thank Meredith and Maggie and I looked at Owen.
"It's super cute," He said, "good job."
"This is so weird," I chuckled, "me, being a mom, having a kid, decorating rooms?" He chuckled and brought me into a hug.
"Well I'd say your doing a good job," he said.
