65: Homesick

AMELIAS POV
Being at work was rough. I missed my family. I've spent the past 6 months with them and now I missed them horribly. I love my job, I really do, but I missed Owen and the girls. I was worried Ellie wasn't doing well or was giving Owen a hard time by crying. I hope Kamryn was having a good day at school. The school year was almost over, which was crazy. I feel like time is flying by.
"Hey!" I heard. I looked up and saw Maggie.
"You're back!" She smiled and hugged me.
"I am," I smiled.
"Oh that's wonderful, are you happy to be back?" She asked.
"I am," I smiled, "I miss my family though."
"Oh I'm sure," she said, "but they'll be there when you come home."
"Yeah," I smiled thinking about that. I got paged and I immediately ran up to the OR.
OWENS POV
Ellie and I were having a good day at home. She cried a little bit when Amelia left this morning but other than that she's been pretty good. I was currently scooping her baby food into a little bowl for lunch. Soon I would go pick up Kamryn and we could probably use the pool or something. I miss Amelia, and I know she's really missing being here, but I'm glad I got her to go in today so she can ease into it. I finished feeding Ellie lunch and then changed her diaper and got ready to go pick up Kamryn. I grabbed my phone and keys and walked out to my car. I buckled Ellie in her car seat and kissed her head.
"Let's go pick up your sister," I said and got in the drivers seat. I drove to the school and parked and picked Ellie up. I walked into the lobby and after a few minutes the door opened and Kamryn ran out.
"Hi daddy," she smiled.
"Hey, how was school?" I asked.
"It was good," she said as she held my hand as we walked into the parking lot, "how was your day with Ellie?"
"It was good," I said.
"I made arts and crafts at school today," she said, "can I show you when we get home?"
"Of course you can," I smiled. We drove home and I unlocked the door and she ran in. She unpacked her bag and showed me the drawings from school and got out her homework. Ellie was starting to yawn so I brought her upstairs and turned the baby monitor on and kissed her head.
"Good night baby girl," I said, "daddy loves you." I shut the light off and left the door open and I walked downstairs.
AMELIAS POV
I finished my 5th surgery of the day. I was sitting in my office looking at the pictures on my desk. I put up a new one since I haven't been in my office for a while. It was the one of Owen and I with Ellie seconds after she was born. I smiled. I looked at all the other pictures of Owen, Kamryn, Mer, Maggie, my parents, and a few of my LA friends. There were also a bunch of pictures Kamryn drew. I missed them. It felt so weird being away from them, it almost felt wrong. I picked up my phone and called Owen.
"Hey," I said.
"Hey," he said.
"How's it going?" I asked.
"We're all good," Owen said, "Kamryn had a good day at school, Ellie and I had a morning of cartoons this morning, and now Ellie is taking a nap and Kamryn is finishing her homework. What about you? How's your day?"
"I miss you guys," I said, my voice broke.
"Oh honey," Owen said, "we miss you too, I love you."
"I love you too," I said softly.
"How's your day?" He asked.
"Good," I said, "I had five surgeries today, I'm just catching up on charts from Steph until 5."
"Well it sounds like you had an exciting day," he said, "cutting into people's skulls."
"Yeah I did," I smiled.
"Well that's good," he said, "I'm glad you had a good day."
"Me too," I said.
"I love you," he said.
"I love you too," I said.
"I'll see you soon okay?" He said.
"Okay," I smiled.

I unlocked the front door and Owen and Ellie were in the living room playing with some of Ellie's toys.
"Hey guys," I smiled and walked over and picked Ellie up.
"Hey," Owen smiled and kissed me.
"Where's Kamryn?" I asked and looked around.
"Bathroom," Owen said.
"Did you have a good day with daddy?" I asked Ellie as I smiled at her, "mommy missed you so much."
"Mama!" Kamryn smiled as she walked into the hallway.
"Hi," I smiled, "I heard you three had a super fun day together?"
"Yeah! We used the pool and then we watched cartoons and we showed Ellie some of her toys again!" She giggled.
"Sounds like fun," I smiled and kissed her head, "was school good today?"
"Yeah," she smiled. I looked over at Owen and smiled.
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too," he said.
