21: Nerves

OWENS POV
I had a really great day with Amelia and Kamryn. Amelia finally got to legally adopt her and I was so happy for them. I unlocked my front door after spending the afternoon with them at Meredith and Maggie's house. I walked in and checked my phone and I had a message from my mom. I figured I'd just call her.
"Hey," I said.
"Hey," she said, "how was your day?"
"It was really good, how was your day?" I said.
"It was good," she said, "you should come for dinner one night I miss you."
"I'm not on call tomorrow," I said.
"Okay," she said, "what about Amelia?"
"I'm sure she's probably busy with Kamryn," I said.
"Well they can both come Owen," She chuckled, "I want to meet them."
"You've met Amelia a million times," I chuckled.
"Owen," she complained.
"I'll ask okay?" I said.
"Okay," she said, "you better."
"Amelia legally adopted Kamryn this morning," I said.
"Oh my gosh that's exciting!" She said.
"Yeah it is," I smiled, thinking of how cute Amelia was when she found out.
"So 6 o'clock dinner tomorrow?" My mom said.
"Sure," I smiled.
AMELIAS POV
"Kamryn it's time for bed," I said as I opened her door.
"I'm not tired," she pouted.
"It's almost 9:30, and you have school tomorrow," I said.
"Okay," she said. She neatened up her toys and I helped her take a bath and put her pajamas on before bed. I brushed her hair and I looked in the mirror and she was totally falling asleep.
"Someone's sleepy," I said.
"Mhm," she said mumbled as she was struggling to keep her eyes open.
"Come on your have to brush your teeth," I chuckled and put toothpaste on her toothbrush and handed it to her. She brushed her teeth and we walked back down to her room. I picked her up and tucked her in.
"Good night sweet pea," I smiled and kissed her forehead as I watched her eyelids drop.
"Good night," she said softly.
"I love you," I said.
"I love you too mama," she said. I dimmed her lamp and closed her door. I walked back into the kitchen and knew I should call my mom. I grabbed my phone and dialed her number.
"Amelia?" My mom said.
"Hey," I said.
"Is everything alright?" My mom said.
"Yeah, everything is perfect," I smiled, "I have some news."
"Okay," my mom said.
"Well I adopted Kamryn today," I smiled and looked at the adoption papers on my counter.
"Oh my gosh!! Honey that's so exciting! You must be so happy!" She said.
"Yeah I am, it doesn't feel real at all," I said.
"Oh I'm so happy for you," she said.
"And," I said.
"And?" She said.
"Owen and I started dating," I said.
"Finally!" She practically yelled, "oh my god when?"
"Like 2 weeks ago, but we kinda just made it official," I said.
"Aw that's exciting, I'm proud of you," she said.
"Thanks," I said.
OWENS POV
I walked into work and I saw Amelia talking to Maggie. She was in scrubs. She looked hot. She was hot. Scrubs looked so good on her. She met my gaze and smiled.
"Hey," she said as she excused herself from maggie and walked down the hall with me.
"Hey," I said.
"I told my mom," she said.
"That's good," I said, "was she happy?"
"Yes," she said.
"You busy?" I asked.
"No," she said with a smile, knowing where I was going with this. She opened the on call room door and I locked it behind me.
"How's your morning been?" I asked as I started kissing her neck and she giggled.
"Good," she said, "I had one surgery and two post ops to check on."
"When's your next surgery?" I asked as she pulled at the belt looped of my jeans.
"It's at 10," she said, "gives me enough time to go get Kamryn in between."
"That's good," I said.
"Yeah," she said. I pulled her scrub top over her head and backed her to the wall. She smiled as our bodies were so close. I ran my finger down her jawline, teasing her before kissing her. I slowly let her lips meet mine and I untied her scrub pants. She started unbuttoning my shirt and she sat on the desk in the room. She had her legs around my waist and my hands ran down her back. She started kissing my neck and I could feel her hot breath go down my spine. I locked eyes with her and she smiled.
"Someone woke up in a good mood," she said.
"Same to you," I said and crashed my lips into hers before picking her up and walking over to the bed.

Amelia was snuggled into me in the on call room bed. I ran my fingers through her hair and kissed the top of her head.
"So I have something to ask you," I said.
"Okay," she said and sat up and pulled the sheet with her.
"My mom invited you and Kamryn to dinner tonight," I said. I noticed her face changed.
"Okay," she said.
"What?" I said, "you don't have to."
"No, no Owen it's not that," she said, "meeting your mom as your girlfriend just makes me nervous. My past isn't exactly parent material."
"You've met my mom a million times. She adores you," I said and pushed a lock of hair behind her ear.
"I know," she said.
"There's nothing to be worried about," I said.
"Okay," she nodded.
"So you're coming?" I said.
"Yeah, we'll come," she smiled.
"Okay," I smiled and pecked her lips.
AMELIAS POV
I'm so nervous. I'm seeing Owen's mom tonight. Not just as Owen's best friend, but as his girlfriend. I'm so nervous. I mean what if she didn't approve of us dating? We were friends for so long. I was panicking. I wasn't exactly perfect material either. I was doing what Amelia does best, freaking out.
"Mama!" I heard. I opened the door and Kamryn was waiting outside my door. She was wearing a pretty flowered dress and she looked so cute.
"You look so pretty!" I smiled and picked her up and kissed her cheek.
"Can you braid my hair?" She asked politely.
"Sure," I said, "go sit on my bed and I'll come over okay?"
"Okay," she said and sat on my bed. I came up behind her and started braiding her hair. I finished and she turned and hugged me.
"Thank you mama!" She giggled.
"You're welcome," I said.
"Can I go watch TV before we leave?" She asked.
"Sure sweet heart," I said. She ran out into the living room and I heard the TV go on. I quickly curled my hair and changed and put a little makeup on. I was so nervous. I felt my phone buzzed and it was Owen.
"I can pick you guys up," he said.
"Okay," I sent with a smiley emoji.
"See you soon," he sent. God I was practically shaking.
"Okay Kammie sweetie Owens going to pick us up okay?" I said.
"Okay," she said, "is his mommy nice?"
"Yes his mommy is very nice," I said, "and she wants to meet you."
"What about you?" She said confused.
"She's already met me," I chuckled. There was a knock at the door and I opened it to Owen.
"Hey," He smiled.
"Hey," I said.
"You look good," he whispered in my ear as he walked past me.
"Owen!" Kamryn smiled and ran over to him and hugged his leg.
"Hey!" He smiled and picked her up.
"We can take my car since I have a car seat," I said.
"Okay," Owen nodded.
"I have to go grab my purse I'll be back," I said. I walked down to my room and I grabbed my bag and I stopped in the hallway when I heard Kamryn and Owen talking.
"How was school today?" He asked.
"Good," she said, "I got to color today, and then Bailey and I did our work together at daycare at the hospital."
"That's cool," Owen said.
"Yeah," she said, "I like mama's work."
"Do you?" Owen said.
"Yeah! She's so cool! She gets to fix peoples brains all the time," she said, aw, my heart. I walked into the kitchen and saw them.
"We ready?" I said.
"Yeah," they both said.
"Okay then let's go," I smiled, but all I could think about was how nervous I was.
