*Diary of a Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules*

You've lived next door to Rodrick for as long as you can remember but your relationship wasn't always smooth sailing. It actually started off pretty rocky.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Hey, Rodrick, do you wanna hang out?" five-year old you asked.
Rodrick just grimaced and pushed you into the sandbox.
"Ew! Girls have cooties!" he yelled before running away.
You were just left laying on sandbox, completely covered in sand and with tears in your eyes.
~~~~~~~~~~~

From that moment on, everytime you two saw each other, it was on sight.

You'd either insult each other really badly, push each other or prank each other. Quite frankly, it really annoyed your parents so they tried to trick you into hanging out and when you two found out, you ended up being banned from iHop for life.

You two hated each other's guts until seventh grade.

You had started dating the most popular guy in school but it turns out that he was only with you to make his ex—the most popular girl in school—jealous.

He dumped on you on the night of the Spring Fling dance.

"Wh-what?" you stuttered out.

"I said, I'm breaking up with you. Heather realized how awful her new boyfriend is and how much better I am than him so she's taking me back," Jason repeated.

"Bu-but I thought you liked me," you whispered, tears falling down your face.

"Sorry, dude. Don't hate the player, hate the game," he shrugged before patting your shoulder and walking away.

By now, everyone was looking at you and you just felt incredibly embarrassed so you ran out of the gym.

You ended up by your locker and started crying there, thinking you were alone.

"Y/N?" a familiar voice asked.

You looked up and saw Rodrick awkwardly standing there.

"What do you want?" you sniffled. "Are you here to laugh at me?"

"No," he said.

"Make fun of me?"

"Nope."

"Dump punch on me?"

He shook his head.

"Then why are you here?" you asked.

He sat down next to you and you were so close to each other that your knees were touching.

"I'm sorry Jason dumped you for Heather in front of the whole grade," Rodrick apologized.

"I'm sorry that I ever liked the jerk," you said.

"You know, if you need someone to talk to, I'm right next door," he said. "SkunkBreath."

You smiled at him and rested your head on his shoulder.

"Thanks, Skidmark."

And you two had been best friends ever since, which your parents were overjoyed about because it meant no more feuding.
