*The Outsiders*

This was it. Tonight was the big dance. All the girls got dolled up and all the boys looked tough. Everyone was having the time of their lives. Well, almost everyone.

Ponyboy was leaning against the wall by the punch table, holding his cup and looking around the room.

He didn't understand what the big deal was. He didn't even want to come. Sodapop thought it was a good idea for him to socialise and make some new friends and Darry agreed with him. So here he was, at a dumb school dance, watching everyone else have fun and counting down the minutes until it was over.

But then, the stars aligned, the Moon had shifted and the universe was at peace at that moment because at that moment, Ponyboy's eyes met yours.

You were sitting on a chair, casually minding your own business and quietly humming along to the music when you saw Ponyboy.

You two had seen each other around school, in class, DX and along the street but it's not like you were friends or anything. However, Ponyboy always did think you were cute.

Before he knew it, he was walking closer to you and you were doing the same thing. You both met each other halfway, in the middle of the dance floor.

"Hi," Ponyboy greeted.

"Hey," you said back.

"I really like this song," Pony told you.

You shrugged.

"It's okay," you responded.

"Wanna dance?" he asked.

Just as you were about to answer, you felt someone grab your arm.

"Y/FULL/N, what are you doing at this dance?" your older sister asked.

She was so loud that the music stopped playing and everyone was staring at you.

"Ginger?" you asked. "What are you doing here?"

"What am I doing here?" she repeated. "What are you doing here? You know you're not allowed to be out at night."

"Never stopped me before," you muttered under your breath.

"We are out of here!" Ginger yelled while dragging you out.

As soon as you left, the music continued playing and everyone went back to what they were doing. Ponyboy just stood there in the middle of the dance floor and stared at the door you were just dragged out of.

"Wow," he said to himself.
