*I'm Not Okay With This*

You didn't mean to laugh, really you didn't but Stanley was such a goofball that you couldn't help it. But by the time you caught yourself, the whole class was already staring at you. Their gazes made you uncomfortable so you cleared your throat.

"What was that, Ms Y/N?" your least favourite teacher asked.

"Nothing," you answered. "Just a little laugh, is all."

"You find this situation funny?" he asked.

"Not so much the situation as a person in it," you replied, briefly glancing at Stanley.

"Well, maybe you'll find it even funnier in detention."

"What?"

"And you're getting a zero for this test," he added.

You were trying your hardest not to make this man's head explode or even make his ears bleed. You closed your eyes and took some calming breaths and then opened them once again.

"No," you deadpanned.

"No?" he questioned.

"No," you repeated. "I'm not going to detention without a proper reason. I mean, if you're gonna send me there might as well have your shit straight."

"You just cursed in my class. There's your good reason," he told you.

"Oh fuck, did I just say shit?" you asked, intentionally cursing. "Goddammit, ain't that just a bitch?"

"Deten—"

"Yeah, yeah, 'detention'. I heard you," you said as you got up and made your way out the classroom.

"You can't leave in the middle of a test!" he scolded.

"You mean a test that I'm getting zero for?" you asked. "Don't worry, I'll be back in time for detention."

Then you left.

TIME SKIP

Well, detention was a bust. While Stanley, Dina and Syd were off on their adventure to retrieve the USB, you were sat on the bleachers listening to music and carving doodles onto the wood.

You eventually got bored and decided to walk home but after the sun went down, you decided to change your course and head to Stanley's house. You snuck into his basement where Bloodwitch was playing through the room. You smiled because it was one of your favourite bands and started bopping your head along to the music. The head bopping quickly turned to toe tapping then hip swinging and pretty soon, you were full on dancing to the song.

"Uh, can I help you?" you heard someone ask.

You turned around and saw Stanley standing there, looking at you weirdly.

"Oh, hey, Stanley," you greeted. "I don't know if you know me but I'm —"

"Y/N Y/L/N," he finished.

"You know my name," you smiled.

"Is there a reason you're in my room?" he asked you.

You snapped out of your trance and remembered what you came to Stanley's house for.

"I wanna join you guys," you answered.

"What—"

"I know why you and Syd really stole the USB. She was caught on camera using her powers in the library and the reason she used her powers is because she sensed a presence with her. I've sensed that presence before too but it hasn't been bothering me as much lately because I think it's more focused on Syd now."

Stan stood there, shocked with a million questions racing through his mind.

'How did she know? And why would this 'presence' want anything to do with her? It's not like she has powers, does she?'

"I do have powers. I've had them all my life. Wanna see them?" you asked.

Stan nodded.

"You can come closer, I'm not gonna hurt you."

Stan moved closer to you which in turn, made you blush. Thank goodness for your melanin and the room' s awful lighting 'cause Stan couldn't see it.

"What's your least favourite item in this room?" you asked.

"Uhm, that lamp, I guess."

You closed your eyes, took a deep breath and let it out. You then open your eyes and focused entirely on the lamp. It's bulb began flickering and pretty soon the whole thing exploded.

"Whoa!" Stanley gasped. "That's so fucking cool! What else can you do?"

You focused on the spot where the shattered lamp lay and soon all the pieces put themselves back together and soon the lamp was whole, as if it were never broken in the first place.

"Wow, that is singlehandedly the coolest thing I've ever seen," Stanley said.

You smiled at him.

"Thanks, so can I hang out with you guys?" you asked, hopefully.

"Why would you want to hang out with us?"

"Because I'm a friendless loser who spends her lunches in the gym," you answered. "Plus, I'm weird too."
