Mobius x Daughter!Reader

You weren't a huge fan of the beach. Every time you and your dad went, it was either too crowded, super hot or both. You just didn't like it, but when your dad asked you if you wanted to go with him, you just couldn't say no.

Mobius took a deep breath and let it out with a smile.

"Smell that beautiful ocean breeze? That's what it's all about," he told you.

You just forced a smile on your face and nodded along.

"Come on, Y/N. I know you don't like the beach but can you at least pretend for today?" he asked.

"I already came to the beach, dad. You can't make me like it too," you responded.

"You used to love it when you were younger. Remember when we collected all those seashells and decorated your room's walls with them?"

You genuinely smiled at the memory and chuckled.

"I remember how incredibly sunburnt you were because you didn't think you would need sunscreen. You could barely move for the rest of the day, so I had to put up most of the shells," you laughed.

"What matters is that I was there when you hung up those shells so it still counts as us working together."

"Not even close."

"Look, Y/N, you're going to college really soon and we'll barely get to see each other, let alone talk. Can we just have this day where it's just the two of us? You know, like a father-daughter day?"

"Yeah, I'm sorry, dad. I don't mean to seem ungrateful or whatever but I really don't like the beach. However, I am willing to force myself to have fun for your sake," you said.

"I'll take it. You may not like the beach but you're gonna love the surprise I got for you," Mobius said excitedly.

"What's the surprise?" you asked.

"If I told you, it wouldn't exactly be a surprise now, would it?" he retorted.

"Does this surprise have anything to do with jet skis?"

Mobius immediately stopped smiling and looked away.

"...maybe," he answered.

"Sounds awesome, dad. When are we gonna ride them?"

"Well, all I've got to do is talk to the guy at the jet ski shack about renting them and we can get started," Mobius said before walking to the jet ski booth.

"Welcome to the Jet Ski Shack, how may I help you?" Jake, a teen working the shack, greeted unenthusiastically.

"Two of your finest jet skis, please," Mobius asked.

"Sorry, we're all out for the day," Jake lied.

Mobius looked off to the side and saw two unattended jet skis.

"But there's literally two jet skis right over there," he said.

"Yeah well, those are unavailable. This rich couple rented them out and are coming to get them later."

"Come on, Jake. This could be the last time for a long time I get to spend with my daughter and we've always wanted to go jet skiing. Can't you make an exception just this once?" Mbius pleaded.

You were watching this entire interaction go on before you decided to intervene. You walked up to Jake and forced a flirtatious smile on your face.

"Is there a problem here?" you asked.

Jake immediately straightened his posture and cleared his throat.

"This kid won't let us rent the jet skis," your dad told you.

"Why not..." you paused to read his name tag, "Jake?"

Jake gulped and tried stuttering out an answer.

"Tell you what, Jake. If you let my dad and I rent one jet ski, just one, we could maybe catch a movie later," you offered.

"It's against the rules," Jake told you.

"Nobody will ever know. It could be our little secret," you said with a wink. "Come on, Jake."

Jake turned around to grab the keys to one of the jet skis and while his back was to you, you and Mobius high-fived each other in victory.

When Jake turned back around, he handed Mobius the keys and told you to bring them back within the hour. You two thanked him and moved the jet ski to the ocean.

"I can't believe we actually got it!" you laughed.

"Yeah, thanks to you. Way to think on your feet, kid," Mobius smiled proudly. "You should get to ride it first."

"What? No, you should, dad. I know how much it means to you," you told me.

"Of all the kids in the world I could've had, I lucked out with the best one," Mobius said. "Okay, I'll go ride around for a bit and then come back so you can get your turn."

"Cool, I'll go get us some ice cream."

Before you could walk off though, Mobius stopped you and handed you the homemade bracelet that he was wearing.

"I can't wear this out there. I might lose it. So hold onto it for me, okay?" he asked with a smile.

"Sure, dad," you nodded in return before heading off to go get some ice cream for the two of you.

Mobius sat down on the jet ski and started it with the key. He was finally gonna ride on a jet ski and then get some ice cream with his daughter afterwards, everything was right with the world.

At least, that's what he thought.

Before he could even start riding along the water, a portal opened up and four people in black armor showed up. They grabbed Mobius off of the jet ski despite his protests and dragged him into the portal.

One of the soldiers placed an odd device on the ground and activated it before also disappearing into the portal.

When you returned to the beach, something felt off. You couldn't quite explain what it was but you knew something was wrong.

Jake from the Jet Ski Shack walked up to you with a skip in his step.

"So how was the jet ski?" he asked.

"The what?" you questioned.

"The jet ski. You know, the one that you rented like an hour ago?"

"I didn't...when did I..." you began but stopped yourself.

Something was wrong, very wrong. You couldn't explain it but you could feel it.

"This jet ski, I rented it alone?" you asked him.

"Of course you did. Who would you have rented it with? You came to the beach alone," Jake explained.

You looked down at your hands and sure enough, you were holding jet ski keys.

"Right. Yeah, of course I did," you agreed half heartedly before turning to Jake with a fake smile on your face. "So you wanna go catch that movie now?"

"Sure thing, my shift's over. Let me just go tell Brandon that I'm off and I'll meet you at the parking lot," Jake said before walking away.

You looked back at the ocean then down at the jet ski keys and noticed something on your wrist. It was a bracelet. You didn't know where it came from but one thing was for sure; you were going to find out.
