I sat at the table and stared Alec in the eyes. The atmosphere surrounding us was so awkward and heavy. It was almost as though Alex knew what I was thinking, what I was about to say.
"Alec, we... we need to talk," you said softly.
Tears started filling his eyes and he looked away so he could blink them away.
"Is it about your stuff 'mysteriously' disappearing?" He asked and you froze.
For the past few weeks you have been taking a few of your possessions and sending them over to your friend's house where you'll be staying. You started off small so Alec wouldn't be suspicious, turns out that plan didn't work out as well as you thought because he caught on.
"Yeah, sorta. I think we should," you stopped to let out a shaky breath before continuing, "see other people."
And that's when it happened. The floodgates opened and the tears started streaming down Alec's face but this time he didn't bother hiding it. He let you see his tears as though they would make you second guess your leaving. And they would've... at a different time but not now. Now, you had to let him go.
"And it's not because I found someone new, it because I think we should take some space from each other. I love you. I really, really love but I think we should break up for now," you said before getting up and leaving, not knowing the damage you left behind.
For a moment, Alec sat there in silence before realizing how melancholy it was without you. How quiet. How lonely.
If you wanna go then I'll be so lonely
If you're leaving baby let me down slowly
