*Riverdale*

When you first arrived in Riverdale, you weren't even a blip on Archie's radar. Yeah, he thought you were pretty but that was about it. To him, you were just another girl.

When you started hanging around the boxing ring and single-handedly beat almost every single one of Archie's students in one round, he was impressed but that was about it.

When he walked in on you playing the guitar and singing along to it heavenly, he felt something. He didn't know what it was and so decided to act like it never happened.

Then when you saved Archie the night he had that fight with Dodger and took him out to Pops so that he could calm down, he began seeing you with new eyes.

Now, whenever he saw you, his heart would skip a beat, he'd make up a bunch of excuses just to be with you and he's even written a few songs about you.

He knew that it was wrong for him to have these feelings for you because he was with Veronica but he couldn't help it, you were just too perfect.

You were sitting on the porch swing at your house, strumming a few cords on your guitar when you saw Archie walk up yo you. You greeted him with a smile and he responded with a similar one albeit a bit more nervous.

He sat down next to you and you placed your guitar on the ground so you could face him properly.

"What's up?" you asked him.

"Are you doing anything tonight?" he asked in response.

"No, why?"

"I was wondering if you wanted to go to Pops," Archie said.

"Sure, what time should I meet you guys?"

"Actually, I was hoping it would be just the two of us."

"Oh," you said. "Uh, sure. Why not?"

"Okay, how does 19:00 sound?"

"Sounds good," you smiled.

He smiled in return and walked back to his house without another word.

TIME SKIP

So far the night was going great. There was no awkwardness or tension between you and Archie, only a flowing conversation and laughs. Archie had even forgotten he was going to confess his feelings to you until he suddenly remembered.

Your laughter had died down and you two were sitting in a comfortable silence then Archie reached over and held your hand.

"Y/N, I have something to tell you," Archie said.

"Sure, Arch, what is it?" you asked him.

"I have feelings for you," he admitted.

Your smile had disappeared and you pulled your hand away from his. After seeing this, most guys would've quit while they were ahead or said that they were joking but not Archie. Nope, he just kept talking.

"I have for a while now. You make me feel a way that I never have before and I know that what I'm doing is crazy because I'm with Veronica but this just feels so right."

"Archie," you sighed. "You're a nice guy. Really, you are but I can't do this with you."

"Why? Is it because of Ronnie because I will break up with her to be with you. I feel something special between us. I... I'm in love with you, Y/N."

"Archie, don't say that. You can't say that."

"Why not?"

"I like you too, Archie. So much, but I can't be with you and it's not because of Veronica even though it's one of the reasons."

"Okay, then why, Y/N?" Archie asked you.

"Because of your reputation."

"My reputation?" he questioned.

"On my first day at Riverdale Hugh, all I heard about you was that you were a musician, football player that had been to juvie, volunteered at a boxing ring and kissed practically every single girl at school. I know I shouldn't have listened to the murmurs but when I enter a relationship with someone, I want to feel a sense of security and I just don't feel that way with you. What's to guarantee me that you won't cheat on me or dump me for someone else?"

"I'd never do that to you," Archie told you.

"You're literally doing that right now with Veronica!" you exclaimed. "And according to everybody, she's your endgame so if you can do that to someone who claim to love, I can only imagine what you could do to me."

"Y/N—"

"I'm sorry, Archie but you aren't a safe bet. I think we should just be friends."

And then you got up and exited the diner, leaving behind a heartbroken Archie Andrews.
