*Avengers: Endgame*
The plan was set into motion, the teams and locations were chosen, everyone was ready, everything was perfect. Except.... you were in Asgard, the year 2013.
You, Rocket and Thor were hiding behind a pillar, trying to figure out a way to get the stone but Thor was babbling on about unnecessary things and Rocket was getting really pissed off really quick but honestly you were grateful for that because it meant that their attention wasn't on you and you could sneak away to somewhere more important.
With a silent prayer and a thumping heart, you were off. You ran out of the hallway and right into the dungeons but once you were a few feet away from Loki's cell you stopped. You had spent the last five years thinking about what you would say to him if you were to ever see him again and here he is, in the flesh.
Almost as if he could sense your presence Loki turned his head and saw you standing there. He froze and stared at you for a moment before jolting up from his laying down position and speeding towards the glass while you did the same.
"Y/N?" he breathed out. "What are you doing here? How did you even get here?"
You smiled softly while shaking you head.
"It doesn't matter. I'm here now," you reassured him.
"Indeed you are," he began but stopped to get a proper look at you.
A lot had changed in the last five years. Your hair was not in its usual iconic high ponytail but rather in a purple ombre bob.
Your superhero suit had changed too since you couldn't fit into the old one. The new one was was a a black cat suit with deep purple details that you would've missed from a distance, a utility belt with different holsters to carry all your weapons and you traded in your high heel boots for combat boots.
And your body... whew chile, don't even get me started. Before the whole Thanos episode and your pregnancy your body was still amazing, don't get me wrong but afterwards... wow. In order to lose the baby fat you carried you decided to work out a lot but not too much. You decided to stop drinking and ate like a rabbit but you still had your occasional cheat days which have allowed you too keep your curves.
"My queen, you look ravishing," Loki complimented with a subtle lick off his lips. "It's amazing what a few months can do to a person."
With those words your smile immediately fell and you snapped back into reality. Loki noticed and his mood completely changed too.
"Darling, what's wrong?"
You thought of all the different ways you could answer. All of them ranging from, 'Nothing, I just missed you is all' to 'Thanos killed you and I've travelled back in time to stop you from tryna kill him with a butter knife' and yet all you could come up with was,
"I'm from the future!"
Loki gave you a quizzical look before bursting into laughter.
"Good one," he breathed out before returning to it.
You held up your left hand with your palm facing you and Loki immediately stopped when he saw that glistening green rock on your ring finger.
"You gave me this. On our wedding day, which is barely five years from now," you said, still holding up your hand.
"We're married?" he asked himself quietly before facing you again. "That's impossible. We can't be married. You can barely even say..."
"I love you?" you interrupted.
It's true, while you and Loki were still only dating you couldn't tell him you loved him no matter how many times he told you. You had an emotional wall built around your heart and it took Loki being stabbed thought the heart by a dark elf for you to realize how you truly felt about him.
"Well, I do. I love you so much," you continued.
"What... um.. what do you love about me?" The smug, sarcastic, mischievous Loki you knew had disappeared and in front of you stood a quieter, more shy and vulnerable version of him.
"Everything. I love your slicked back, jet black hair. Your piercing green eyes, your cruel but funny pranks. I love how you never gave up on me and how I never gave up on you even when the world did. I love how you stood in front of all of the people of Asgard and a few others and said that you do take me to be your lawfully wedded wife. And I..." you stopped to take a breather while a few tears escaped. "I love that you were able to give me a daughter."
His eyes filled with a joy that you had only seen very few times from him and a grin that stretched from ear to ear etched itself onto his face.
"We have a daughter?" I nodded. "We have a daughter! That's the best thing I've ever heard! What's she like?"
"Physically, she's like the perfect combination of you and I but with everything else, she's just like you. Mischievous, sly, sarcastic and her powers don't help either."
"She drives you crazy doesn't she?" Loki teased with an amused smirk.
"Insane," you chuckled. "Like father, like daughter I guess."
"What about me? Has she driven me to insanity as well or do we team up against you?"
And there it was, the thing you've been dreading this entire time. Your tears of happiness instantly switched to those of sadness and a frown made its way onto your face.
"You're.... um... you're not there." you said solemnly.
Loki's smirk disappeared.
"What? What do you mean?"
"In the year 2018, Thanos found us on a ship headed back to Earth. He came on board and killed half of the ship because he was looking for the Tesseract," as soon as you said that you saw Loki's face fill with guilt. "When he didn't find it he locked Thor and I in balls of metal and he shut Thor's mouth with the same substance but left mine alone. I think it was because he wanted to hear me beg him to spare us, to spare you and I did. You looked at us like you had a plan and you... you executed it. You pretended as though you were loyal to him and then attempted to slit his throat but... he saw it coming a mile away and he grabbed you by yours. He... he snapped your neck and that was it. You were gone."
By now you were bawling. You had been holding in all your emotions for the last five years but now they were finally out. It felt so painful but yet so good.
"No, that can't be it. I can fake a snapped neck Y/N!" he exclaimed, still clearly in denial.
"You've been gone for five years!" you shouted back. "So either you're really dead or you just didn't want to see us and honestly, the latter hurts much more than the former."
You stopped to wipe away your tears to the best of your ability and take deep breaths.
"I spent the last five years thinking about what I would do or say to you if I were to ever see you again. At first I thought about beating you up so badly that your descendants could feel it because I was so angry with you but then I realized it was only because I wanted something to prove that you were there, that you were still alive but you weren't then and you aren't now."
The two of you stood in silence for a moment before you heard alarms blaring in the distance.
"That's my cue."
You looked at Loki one last time only to find him staring back at you with the exact same look.
"Goodbye Loki."
And then you were gone.
