*Falcon and The Winter Soldier*
You and your daughter, Akeelah were chilling in the living room, watching Camp Rock when you were interrupted by a knock on the door.
You got to answer it and when you did, you saw Bucky standing there.
"Bucky?" you questioned. "What are you doing here?"
"Can I come in?" he asked.
"Yeah, sure," you nodded before moving out of the way. "Come in."
Bucky walked in and headed straight to the living room where Akeelah was still focused on the movie in front of her.
"Hi, uncle Buck," she greeted with a smile.
"Hi, Akeelah," Bucky half smiled back.
"Let's head to the kitchen," you told Bucky and he headed there with you.
"Would you like some Jasmine tea?" you offered. "I always have a pot of it at the ready."
Bucky nodded and you happily poured some for him and you. Then you took a sip and sat across from him.
"So what's wrong? Are the nightmares back?" you asked him.
"No, well, yes they are but that's not what I came to talk about."
"Okay," you nodded, taking another sip of your tea. "Then what did you come to talk about?"
"There's a new Captain America and his name is John Walker," Bucky started. "I saw him on the news and I got mad, really mad. Not only did Sam give away the shield but the people that he gave it away to gave it away to JoHn wAlKeR. He's not Captain America. He's not who's supposed to have the shield! He not—"
"Steve?" you finished.
Bucky sighed, looking down at his tea.
"... The right person for the job," he finished.
You got an idea and stood up.
"Look, honey, I've got to go do some errands today but I'll be home soon. Do you think you can stay here and watch over Akeelah until I get back?"
"Sure," Bucky said.
You kissed the top of his head and walked into the living room.
"Hey, sweetie, I'm have to go somewhere right now but you'll be staying with Uncle Bucky," you told Akeelah.
"Okay, mom," she smiled.
"I love you," you told her before kissing the top of her head and leaving.
Bucky walked into the living room and saw Akeelah sitting there.
"Wanna watch High School Musical with me?" she asked him.
TIME SKIP
You had been gone for about an hour or two and had hoped that your plan worked.
Akeelah liked watching the High School Musical movies after Camp Rock and by now, she would be almost done with the second one.
"I'm home!" you yelled.
When you walked into the living room, you saw Akeelah sitting by herself watching the scene where everybody was flying the lanterns.
"Hey, baby, where's Bucky?" you asked her.
"After the Troy and Gabriela song, he got up and went to the backyard. He's been there ever since," Akeelah told you.
"Okay, thanks," you thanked her then headed to the backyard.
Bucky was sitting on the porch, looking the horizon.
"Ever since he left, I haven't been able to watch that scene either," you said, sitting next to him. "I know it's just a kids movie and it isn't that deep but for me, it is."
"I just don't understand why he left. Was he not happy in the present? Was I not enough to keep him around? Why did he leave? Peggy was fine without him but I needed him! And he just left like I meant nothing!"
"I know what you mean. I don't get why he went back either," you told him. "When I saw old Steve, I was filled with so much anger and frustration towards him and honestly, I still am!
I resent Steve Rogers but I also still love him. I will never understand why he went back to Peggy but I have to live with the fact that he did and there is nothing I can do to change it."
"I don't forgive him for leaving everything behind," Bucky said. "For leaving me behind."
"And you never have to," you reassured him. "His actions obviously something that he had given some thought and you don't have to be okay with them. Your feelings are valid and you're allowed to have them."
You heard Bucky sniffling and when you looked over, you saw that he was crying. You took him into your arms and started rubbing circles on his back.
"He had to go his own way, Buck and one day, you will too. One day, thinking about won't hurt as much and I promise I will be right there for you when it happens."
