*All American*
I walked onto the football field -where the boys where currently practicing- with confidence and a certain vibe about me. I looked like I was ready to take on the world and look good while doing it but inside I was so scared.
I was going to ask coach Baker if I could join the football team for two reasons, to prove that I am awesome and get closer to my crush, Jordan Baker but coach didn't need to know about that last reason.
As soon as coach saw me he blew his whistle which resulted in all the boys stopping what they were doing.
"Y/N, always a pleasure to see you here," he spoke kindly and I simply smiled back. "Not to sound rude but, why are you here now?"
I casually shrugged my shoulders and began speaking.
"Oh, you know. The usual."
"And the usual is...?" Coach began waiting for me to finish.
"I want to join the football team," I stated and everyone looked at me in shock.
"As what? A cheerleader?" Asher joked. "Pretty sure you're at the wrong place for that."
I rolled my eyes and turned to him with an unamused look on my face.
"You'd think that a guy who plays football would actually know the positions. But just in case let me tell you something. A cheerleader isn't a football position, so that comment you just made was incredibly irrelevant," I replied sassily with a fake smile on my face.
The rest of the guys snickered and added some quiet comments in there while Asher glared at me. I didn't take it to heart considering the fact that we always talk to each other like this but it's all in good fun. Asher and I are actually really close friends. He introduced me to Jordan in the first place.
"Y/N, I don't know. A girl on the team? Plus we don't have any positions left so-" coach started but I cut him off.
"I'll start off on the bench then. I don't have to be on the field immediately. I can work my way up. First just a benchwarmer, then a stand in, then an actual player and pretty soon, quarterback," I defended.
Some of the guys ooh'd and chuckled at what I said.
"Fine, but you have to show me what you got. We've still got fifteen minutes of practice left. Make it count," coach smiled at me before he blew the whistle.
All of the guys ran back to continue with what they were doing except for Jordan. Coach called him back and asked him to show me the ropes. Call me crazy but I swear I saw coach wink at him. Jordan smiled at me and walked off to the far end of the field and I followed him. He picked up a football and started throwing into the air and catching it.
"So basically I'm going to throw a ball at you and you're gonna have to catch it," Jordan explained to me. "You know how to catch a ball don't you?"
I gave him an unamused look.
"No Jordan. I have absolutely no knowledge on football or how to catch a ball yet I signed up for football 'cause that totally makes sense," I drawled out sarcastically and Jordan chuckled before throwing the ball to me.
"Or maybe you just want to see all the 'hot guys'," he joked.
"Or maybe just you," I muttered before I threw the ball.
Jordan caught it, froze and then smiled at me. I smiled back as though I hadn't just said that. We continued passing the ball to each other and talking until practice was over.
I began walking to my and Jordan jogged up to me.
"Hey Y/N, you know if you need any tips on football feel free to talk to me," he said. "In fact you can come over to my place tonight at seven thirty."
"I think I'm all set Jordan," I answered and his smiled dropped immediately. "But we can go on a date tonight at seven thirty."
His smile came back.
"Yeah, that sounds really nice actually," he told me and he started walking away. "See you at seven thirty!" he yelled back.
"See you at seven thirty."
