Life sucks. It sucks dick and not even that good dick either. Life sucks bad dick.
Never did I think that I would be back in this awful town full of drug addicts, criminals and deadbeats but here I am.
My old house looked exactly as I left it; old, broken down and gross. The mere sight of it made me want to break down in tears.
I was about to enter it when I felt someone tap my shoulder. I turned around and saw Fiona smiling widely at me.
"Hi, I'm Fiona Gallagher. I live right across from you," she greeted.
Everything in me wanted to scream, 'I know! We've been neighbors for thirteen years.' But I couldn't. It was way too embarrassing so, I just ran inside my house and locked the door.
I looked outside my window and saw that she wasn't there anymore. I let out the breath I was holding and decided to start cleaning up.
TIME SKIP
Not even the bar had changed, well other than the picture of the uterus outside, whatever that was about. I guess there was also a few more creeps around but that's just natural. My mom used to work here so I came with her every opportunity I got and it was fun. Vee and Kevin were basically like my second parents.
"What are you buying?" Vee asked but stopped to take a proper look at me. "Y/N?"
"Hey Vee," I waved.
She smiled widely and reached over the counter to give me a bear hug. I smiled and hugged her back.
"I haven't seen you in years," she said when she finally let go. "How've you been doing?"
"Great," I lied.
"Why are you back here? I thought you went to LA to become a huge star."
'Oh, good.' I thought. 'She doesn't know yet.'
"Just decided to come back. This is my home after all," I shrugged.
"Sure is. I'll just go get you some pink lemonade. You still like it don't you?" she asked.
I nodded without another word. She smiled and said she'd be right back. I let out another deep sigh and placed my head in my arms.
"I hate my life," I said.
"Y/N? Y/N Y/L/N?" I heard a voice ask me.
I lifted my head and saw a familiar face standing right next to me.
"Carl Gallagher?" I questioned.
"Holy shit, you're so hot now!" he exclaimed.
I rolled my eyes at him playfully.
"Of course that's the first thing you say to me after eight years, Gallagher. Now, come give me a hug dickhead," I laughed.
He hugged me and after a while he pulled away and sat next to me.
"How's life been in ole' Hollywood?" Carl asked.
My smile quickly dropped and I tried to change the topic as quickly as possible.
"Uh... forget about that. How's life been here? What'd I miss?"
"Only everything," Carl said then he proceeded to tell me about everything single thing I've missed.
"What? Ian went to jail?" I asked and he nodded. "Damn, and he was my favourite Gallagher too."
Carl clutched his heart in fake offence.
"Ouch," he chuckled. "But anyways, enough about all of that. Why are you back here? You finally get tired of LA?"
My smile sank once more and I could feel my heart rate increase at the truth.
"More like, it got tired of me," I admitted.
"What?" Carl asked.
"When I moved eight years ago, it was to be a sitcom called 'Friends Forever' and it had been going great. It allowed new opportunities for me, like movie deals, appearances on other shows, the best talk shows, you name it. Everything was going great until recently. My so-called ex boyfriend got me arrested for fraud and money laundering, the stupid fucker. Obviously, it got sorted out but by then it was too late. I had been fired from 'Friends Forever', my agent quit, my assets were frozen, nobody wanted to work with me and now all I have is 200 dollars to my name and my old house that my parents left for me. "
Carl was the first person I told about my career failing since it actually happened. I'd been bottling everything up and now it was all out. I didn't vry, I'd done enough of that on the trip back home. Now I was just relieved I guess.
"Wow, that must be a lot of shit to process," Carl said.
I chuckled and replied with a, 'yeah.'
"Well, let me be the first to say to you, 'welcome back'. '
"Might as well be the first to put a bullet through my head," I told him.
"Is that an option?" he asked.
"Shut up, Gallagher."
Maybe being back won't be so bad after all.
